The title says it all. I'm hoping to prepare my Icestorm Nomads here shortly, and I'm considering a few conversions. Specifically, turning Lady Alguacil into a Paramedic/Dak. This might result in the loss of the Reverend's MediKit (the Beyond Bolt is the other candidate). That said, before I make the Reverend look less Reverend, I have to ask: how is she in Vanilla Nomads these days, especially in light of Forward Deployment L1? The conversions I'm considering are either more Corregidor as a Bandit/Moran (TBD), or as a Heckler.
I want to use her like I use the Hospitaller Doctor in Vanilla PanO, a shooty specialist who can leave one servant behind to heal allies in your DZ whilst the other servant follows her up the board acting as a minesweeper or giving her +1 Burst and +1 Damage on her EXP CCW. FD1 definitely helps her with this, mostly mitigating the 4-2 Move, and she's definitely a good shooty trooper with BS13, mimetism, and potentially a Multi rifle, but I worry she might be a little too fragile with only 1 wound, and her CC 19 still isn't amazing even with the ganging up bonus from the bot.
I've been using the Wildcat Engineer like that in Vanilla recently: it's done quite well. But +5pts over a Clockmaker vs 18pts over a Daktari is a stretch. I could definitely see it in a LI Supplies list though.
I see her more as a high BS mimetic MI specialist that happens to be a Doctor, than as an upgraded Daktari.
This is on my list to try out, specifically with a multi-rifle. I haven't run it yet. My goal was to pair it with infiltrators and Morlocks so she has friends to heal for midgame. I want it to be good, but I don't know if it will... I've played Avicenna in this manner with some success but I always lean on NWI. I feel like I'd get unlucky and be screwed. It's hard to afford a backup doctor once you've invested both points and orders with the Reverend.
She's okay? Like, a solid good gunfighting doctor. Just not sure you won't get more out of a solid cheap gunfighter and a daktari. I mean, she's paying a bit of a premium for her inflated statline and her CC19 EXP CCW.
I've had good luck using her as a specialist first and gunfighter second. One game in particular I had a Sin-Eater HMG and Intruder MSR as ARO pieces, each with their own helper bot just outside of blast range. She followed my attack pieces (Perseus and Taskmaster) to the objective, healing my ARO's and the Taskmaster whenever they dropped. I wouldn't have tried that with a Daktari. That was partly good rolls, but I think even if my main fighters dropped she would have held her own.
Would never consider outside of limited insertion in vanilla. She's too slow to be a good button pusher, even with FD1. She's not a good enough gunfighter to justify the points on her own. She's too squishy to put in harm's way and still be relied upon to be the team doctor. I only ever bring her with a Kusanagi haris, and in that role I think she's great.
