Situation I've seen on table today:

    1. A Fireteam declares Short Move.
    2. Reactive player declares no ARO, despite some models from the fireteam getting into his Hidden Deployment sniper's line of sight.
    3. Fireteam - oblivious to the TO Camo's existence - declares the second Short Move. New models show up in TO Camo's line of sight (including the Fireteam's Leader / SWC gunner)..
    4. TO in Hidden Deployment would, now, like to ARO the targets that just showed up.

    Which is correct?
    a. ARO is legal - as long as it is against one of the team members that walked into sniper's crosshairs in their 2nd Move, or
    b. ARO is no longer possible, because first Short Skill of the Order has already presented the AROing model with legal targets, yet the model decided not to ARO them: after all those are models activated with the same Order.

    B. is correct, the Fireteam generates the ARO as a group, if the Reactive player forgoes his ARO against the Fireteam he does not get a second ARO when the other members come into view.

It works the same as G: Servant/Sync

As soon as you get any ARO you must declare a reaction or lose it entirely.

The hidden deployment trooper had a valid ARO after the first short skill and opted to do nothing - he loses his ARO

Thank you. I thought just that way myself, but the players weren't 100% sure, and we couldn't find that exact situation described in the (HSN3) rulebook.

That exact scenario is not spelled out in an example, but it is covered in the first block of the ARO rules

A trooper owned by the Reactive Player can declare an ARO if any of the following is true:

    • It has Line of Fire (LoF) to a trooper being activated by the Active Player.
    • An enemy trooper activates within its Zone of Control (ZC).
    • It has a Special Skill or piece of Equipment allowing reaction to enemy actions without LoF.
The Reactive Player must declare AROs for all eligible troopers immediately after the Active Player declares his Entire Order or the first Short Skill of his Order (see: Order Expenditure Sequence). Troopers that fail to do so lose their ARO against that Order. If, by declaring the second Short Skill of its Order, the active trooper gives ARO to enemy troopers that did not have ARO against the first Short Skill, then those enemy troopers can declare their AROs.

The sniper had line of fire to an active model after the first short skill, so was therefore required to immediately declare a reaction.
