So I've barely really used impetuous troops and when I have I've pretty much just ignored the impetuous phase so I don't have to try and be clever. Primarily morlock taken for smoke purposes. I'm planning to start using Uberfall because I've always loved the minis and concept but I'm just a bit lost how to get the best out of them. Partially a rules question I guess but also guidance on how to play them reasonably well. As I read it, if you move in the impetuous phase you basically just have to straight line it towards deployment zone. Other than the first turn where I guess deployment will be the key, how do you avoid just having them wander into a hailstorm of fire and gambling on dodges?
You have to take the quickest path, which can mean going around buildings and over terrain, so you have a LITTLE control there. On later turns it can be tough. Easiest answer is to forgo the impetuous phase if moving your full move looks like it will leave you hanging out. You can also move and then throw eclipse (for uberfalls), which slows you down and also gives you total cover for your next move. A lot of of people though, just charge at the opponent turn one, hope to take out something big and then accept that their guys are gonna die
Another good tip is that you can do you Impetuous activations one at a time. So sometimes, it is good to use cheaper disposable ones first to clear the way or lay down smoke. Based on how that goes, you can make the decision if you want to Impetuous the UFK.
Thanks both, I guess as with most things infinity the best thing will be practice to get experience of the nuances to getting the best out of them.
