So what started as "how many crazykoalas can I put on a team" ended up as a flexible looking list. All the Chlamydia ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 INTERVENTOR Hacker (Hacking Device Plus) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 25) TASKMASTER Lieutenant Red Fury, Pulzar, CrazyKoalas + TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Heavy Pistol, DA CCW. (1 | 53) TASKMASTER Heavy Rocket Launcher, Light Shotgun, CrazyKoalas / Heavy Pistol, DA CCW. (2 | 47) MORAN (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, CrazyKoalas (2) / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 22) MORAN (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, CrazyKoalas (2) / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 22) SALYUT Hacker (EVO Hacking Device) Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 25) LUNOKHOD Heavy Shotgun, Heavy Flamethrower, D-Charges, CrazyKoalas (2) / Electric Pulse. (0 | 25) LUNOKHOD Heavy Shotgun, Heavy Flamethrower, D-Charges, CrazyKoalas (2) / Electric Pulse. (0 | 25) CARLOTA KOWALSKY Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower, Adhesive Launcher, D-Charges + Moriarty / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 34) MORIARTY Electric Pulse. (4) TOMCAT Doctor (MediKit) Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) 5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army Salyut has baggage for frontline/quads, can buff the REMS (B2 HFT aw yeah), and resupply units that have planted their koalas. Lunokhods can stand as defense or secondary hunters late game, plus the obvious perk of repeater coverage. Interventor is there mostly as a decoy Lt choice. The fact she's a brilliant hacker is icing. SWAST are just a beatstick I haven't played with yet, and the EVO HD lets me run Duo if the board looks good for it. Morans bringing more repeater coverage, otherwise just there to push buttons and mine walkways. Tomcats are switch hitters, either reviving the lunokhods/ SWAST, pressing buttons, or hunting cheerleaders if things are going well. Rolling with the gimmick I have 6 units I can coordinated order to lay down the koalas early. Resupplying the Morans to further mine certain lanes might funnel the opponent where I want them. The biggest issue I have is lack of orders as I usually play 14-18 orders. I'm trying to learn new tactics and this looks a little more fun than Mobile Brigada paintrain. Beyond that this looks to me like a fairly survivable team that can hit most objectives. What do you all think?
Unless you deploy Carlota normally I wouldn't run this without a normal Engineer. You are too reliant on STR troops that are easy to down but hard to finish. With their base size and inability to use doors or go prone they will be found and go down, and you are likely to be closer (plus generate orders) from a normal deployed Engineer. I do actually normal deploy Tomcats in 1 CG lists a lot. I can have the points to spare and the LFT, stat bumps and especially Climbing+ come in really handy.
Good point. She'd make a decent defender for the Interventor and starting with an extra order probably outweighs the gain of drooping her somewhere unexpected. With the low order count I'd be worried about Moriarty not being able to reach an upfield Lunokhod, but that's just the tactical trade-off I suppose. I normally bring a clockmaker when I roll REMs but didn't see a good way to make use of the extra points without ending up with 1 or 2 orders in a second combat group.
One difficulty with 1 CG lists is filling your slots with exactly what you want without filling your points. It's usually caused by stuff like Jaguars or Dak/Clockmaker. A Tomcat can give a doctor and help keep up a DTW defense in your DZ at the same time. It is a shame to waste Carlota's extra stats on not using AD though. It's one reason I don't like putting REM in 1 CG lists, my linked Wildcat Engineer can't reposition the link around my DZ to get them and I can't spare the slot for an Engineer.
Lack of MSV2 can hurt. Everyone respects Intruders for a reason ;) I would also switch one Lunokhod for an Acrylat Cannon. The longer range ARO can be useful and gives you an extra tool up your sleeve against TAGs etc Or you could switch the Evo and one lunokhod for a basic 8 point salyut and a tsyklon.
Yeah, it's a better choice in Vanilla LI. If you're not ADing your Tomcat Eng then a Wildcat Eng is a lot punchier for +1pt -2" Move, - C+
+1 BS and 6 BTS as well. I'm always taking Nanopulsars on the Tomcat and cringing when I realise it doesn't get the Hellcat BTS.
Is it too late to point out the significant diminishing returns on having 12 Koalas? They are likely to be so packed together that it won't be a problem for your opponent to trigger more than one at a time.
Oh yeah, I don't think this is actually a good idea it all. I mostly just want to see my opponent's face when I place all the facehuggers. This started as a joke until I realized I had 6 specialists + 2 more with D-charges. I've yet to play a 1cq list so I don't know what does or doesn't work with so few orders. Usually I field at least 14 orders with speedbump infiltrators (zeros and morans in suppressive fire). I was thinking maybe armed/planted CK's might fill that role.
