Okay, I really like a lot of stuff about the Modiphius RPG. I love the character creation process, I enjoy the way heat works even if it is a little gamey, and I really dig the additions they made to the lore. There's one big, big, big BIG problem though: The combat is a mess; I like to play over a table, and any combat that requires me to check for 2-3 effects and skills and bonuses feels too slow and not dynamic enough. I already think other systems are cluttered as all hell, and yet this system is even more cluttered. One interesting suggestion I've seen is making combat more like the Skirmish game, where weapons have a fixed damage value and you roll your armor against that value. Of course, this would need to be balanced with the new armor system, because in the RPG an Orc is almost immune to combi rifle fire, and that's very much not the case in the table top. So I need ideas. Has anyone tried to make the combat (specially the damage) system more dynamic?
