I was a bit surprised to see what appears to be only 8/146 (and 0/64 for the invitational!) players chose any flavor of Haqq this year. Any ideas as to why? If you went/are there I’d love to hear why you decided to leave your Haqq at home: mission selection, time constraints, expected boards, competitiveness, current meta? The thread about Haqqislam in N4 seemed largely positive on the faction’s perceived “competitiveness” which I agreed with but maybe this data shows that’s not as true as we thought.

I only play haqqislam and the sectorials competitively and I cant say that they are top tier. Maybe HB is, now a days, I have to try the asawira 5menlink. Most of the top players in inter are alpeh or EC and maybe nomands dont know this one, I think they are there cause they got some good badass guys that 90% of the time work and some good specialist. The point is that haqqislam only have good specialist, we have fidays but enjoy playing against EC/toha (you gonna play against if you are winning some games), we got badass like tariq but is double-edged weapon, just an example. Haqqislam got good shooters but not 90% effective ones I think about 70%(It's just a general tought).

In my opinion haqqislam cant kill strong guys/tags facing them, the good way is using an tuareg/hawwa hacker but they always got KHD cheaper than your hacker and that feels bad man. So you cant hack them easyly so you think about putting them in the list.

Okei, muttawia are OP, but is the only thing insite haqqislam that can fight good cost/effective. Now with muktars with MSV2 we can face some models but its redfury(13damage)... its hard sometimes to kill some models.

I'm not saying that fidays or tariq are bad, they are double-edged weapon. I take this two examples but I think they are more models like this insite haqqislam.

I think that haqqislam needs a troop cost rework because we can spam cheap ordres... yes, but isn't worth, not work at all. I think haqqislam need to change at 15-16 regular orders + the irregulars for have more impact in-game. for example we are paying troops like Djanbazan hmg 35 points its expensive (I'm not saying is bad model, I use them).

This is my point of view because I play a lot with haqqislam and I would explain why haqqislam is so low in inter tournament.

I honestly think the biggest issue Haqq has at higher levels is simply that its a machine with a lot more cogs. The machine works just as well as all the others, but with more moving parts, its more likely to misfile, or break down. You have to be on top of your game and leveraging angles far more. On the tournament scene of any sport or game, simplicity and efficiency leads to better results. Haqqislam has efficiency, but the simplicity is not there. If you want to take down a target, you have to utilize several different tactics while many other armies can simply utilize one or two.

Haqqislams win rate has always displayed this. In the Online Campaigns and tournaments, we have a lot of games but mid to low win rate as the army will get a lot of new folks, but with its complexity, they will not win as easily as say, Nomads, Pano, or Yu Jing. You dont have units that you can just throw at the enemy and solve your problems. even Tariq is not particularly durable.

I have always said, Haqqislam is just as good as any of the other armies, the issue is, it's a complex machine that takes a long time to learn to wield efficiently, and really punishes mistakes.

Good comments! Efficiency is an interesting consideration since that is both points and orders. We certainly have some very points effective units but sometimes struggle to be order effective because we can’t just rely on stepping out and outshooting the enemy. To balance we might have a few more orders but that also means our multiple “cogs” are fragile and removing a weaker model means our grander strategy is disrupted. I do feel like the mukhtar addition was a good one to give us an optimized gunfighter that still feels “Haqq” in being light, fast, low armor and middling damage. Perhaps if there is a global points rebalance it will help us have another couple of orders to pair with our more middling gunfighters so we can afford the tricks and/or some redundancy in a support piece or two.

The only Qapu player here, I feel Haqqislam is pretty good, but as it was said here, other factions can do the same work much more easily and efficiently. During this tournament I have played and won againts two tohaas and a SSO, which almost everyone agree are really top factions, and of my three defeats (against Corregidor, SSA and TAK) only in the case of TAK i felt overwhelemd (partially because i took like... 6 or 7 shock crits!?).
At the other two defeats, the table favoured greatly the other player and even so I believe that I made their victories costly.

As someone who has been playing haqq since N3 started and has played competitively, often placing in the top half or top 1/3rd of most tournaments, ive learned that they are a very pyrrhic faction. You need to have full focus on the mission and leverage a multitude of tools to achieve victory whilst having a slew of back-up plans. When i was more in practice and on top of my game with haqq, i would win games with high TP and high OP but universally low VPs due to leveraging my troops and accepting losses to win the mission. Hell even baiting opponents into killing more expensive models just so i can make them burn orders and not touch my chaff and specialists. I was one of the people who started with haqq but floundered horribly with being victorious until i literally changed factions and played Aleph for a good while. Doing so kinda gave me the rock/paper/scissors view of infinity and helped teach me how to really use haqqs potential. My best piece of advice for haqq players trying to elevate their game is to play an opposite army to them, and learn why expensive high tech factions can fear utility spam factions.

somewhat similar to what @theGricks said and I'm just really spitballing here, it could just be the tournament format, especially gruelling 5 games kind, that discourage the choice for picking Haqq.

Arguably, the mental load to play Haqq is generally higher than most other factions, and the fragility of units leads to inconsistency in the long run, and strong consistent less mentally taxing wins is what you are looking for if you are looking to place well in a 5-game tournament.

hey but that's precisely why I play Haqq, the need to constantly analyze the board for alternative solutions is a lot of the fun for me. Hell but what do I know, I haven't been to a 5 game tourney yet.

This is the succesful list, because the three victories were with them. I disguised the spec ops as a Djanbazan Doctor, and the Hazfa HRL as a Djanbazan sniper or marksman rifle.

This was the failure list, because i lost the three matches i used it, but at least in two the tables we too cramped and i couldnt take advantage of my long range weapons, specially the Azrail.
Here I disguised the two Hazfas HRL as ghulam snipers, and the spec ops as a Sekban spitfire.

    Hello,

In my case, latest year I went with "hassasin" but this I did with Acontecimento because I like to play at Interplanetario with my first faction, nothing more. Vainilla I really don't know how competitive is, but about Hassasin I can talk a lot, they are really really competitive, but how others said before me, the gears to put to work have to many pieces. Hassasin needs every guay in the list do his work and sometimes this is complicates. But they provides a lot of fun while playing (too frustration).

The reasons why not so many players have choosed haquiss (no matter the flavour) will be many. Maybe the most haquiss players don't have the chance to get into the tournament, maybe they chose others factions only for fun. The motives... who really knows.
