Hello all, new old player here, I have played about 4-5 games severals years ago with the N3 but I left the game after my local shop opponent disappeared. Now after about 10 years I have played again two intro Code One games in my local club and I have to say to have had a better feeling about the previous experience with Infinity (also thanks to my new opponent). We are going to play again this Saturday and I have already bought the N4 rulebook and the next intro set (Operation Crimson Stone). Thinking to play Nomads (Corregidor) and after to have read the whole rulebbok I will start to looking for games with Tabletop Simulator. Ciao Ale
Yes, also the Ariadna miniatures are pretty cool, not a bad time at all! What are the other factions that are going to be revisited? (or already with new models)
Military Orders (PanO) just got a huge revamp, there are also a lot of profiles for Svalarheima (PanO) White Banner (Yu Jing) and Hassasins (Haqqislam) that don't have models yet so we can look forwards to them over the next year or so. Corvus Belli tend to drop new releases for 3-5 factions a month rather than doing whole factions at a time. Military Orders and Corregidor were the last two "Pre-CAD" ranges currently in production and they've both been revamped this year. There are a few factions that are currently out of production. Still playable and legal in tournaments but the models tend to be older vs harder to find, they are: Neoterra and Acontecimento (PanO) Caledonia and Merovingian (Ariadna) Qapu Khalqi (Haqq) Steel Phalanx (Aleph) Tohaa (except those in Spiral Corps) Infinity does have extremely permissive proxy rules, even at the official tournament level, so if you really like (your example) the Shang-Ji miniatures and want to use them as Mobile Brigada that's pretty much encouraged, the only rule is that they need to be on the correct sized base.
Thanks for the detailed answer @colbrook! Nice to read several factions at once that only one like GW instead. Why these factions are out of production? Very few player bought them? If you know of course!
The catalogue of Infinity miniatures is very large and can take up a good chunk of shelf space for retailers wishing to stock the game. CB have periodically retired model ranges to provide room in the catalogue for new factions. The OOP factions are not completely abandoned, they were all updated to N4 last year, and CB do hope to reintroduce them at some point with a new range of miniatures and revamped rules. Though there is no firm timeline when that will happen.
I live in Bussoleno (Val Susa), I joined a local club in Turin last year and am more than happy to meet other people. I just watched a video about how to use Tabletop Simulator but I am still quite green...
Today we played another 2 games of C1, 25 points, Domination and Firefight, tons of fun. I think to be pretty hooked at this point and I am willing to invest great part of my gaming time on Infinity. We will play another 30 points game and then we should swith to full N4 rulebook (again starting from 150 points to 300 without any hurry). Within a week I will try to play a TS game with whoever will be available to play a newbie. What a game, cheers!
