Save for Janissaries (which are my next buy), I got all QK. Now, what should I get next to expand more into Haqqislam? I'd like to play lists that are very different to what QK allows.

I am working in the other direction, vanilla Haqq towards QK (based around a Kaplan core.)

When I play QK, I miss Tauregs a little. Hidden deployment specialists can be fun but are costly.

I miss Mutts. Everyone rightly says they're undercosted. I can use Yaun Yauns to walk forward and throw spoke and provide some midfield coverage. I tend to run my mutts a little conservatively vs. pushing them into my opponent's face.

I miss Fiday! Fiday can alpha strike any model not a hand-to-hand expert, but I find him really useful in the midfeild, throwing smoke and placing mines. I rarely risk deploying in my opponent's deployment zone.

I miss daylami panzerfaust as cheap ARO peices.

I miss the assortment of midfield camo markers. A camo marker in QK is Hawwa, but could be a mine, farzan, hawwa, taureg, or hunzacut.

Vanilla seems to me like the logical next step. I was initially going to say hassassin, but then your QK won’t get used at all.

I jumped in full throttle and am only missing a few models out of the whole range. I haven’t used Govads or Alguacil. I really enjoy hassassins, but tend to play vanilla if I’m playing against multiple opponents. Our flexibility is incredible. I play QK or Druze when I want crazy links.

Vanilla is what I'm going for, I'm tired of Fireteams. I could get a lot of models, but getting them painted is another thing.

I'd likely want a Margherita Guard and some super-jump guys and some Hassassin sniper perhaps. And mutts. Which camo guys are good, and how are the bikers?

In terms of camo, Hunzakuts are amazing due to their cheapness, Hassassin Farzans bring extremely useful skills like Minelayer or Chain of Command, Tuaregs are TO troopers with shotguns that can also be a high-WIP hacker or doctor, and Al' Hawwa combine hacking and a BSG+D Charges for excellent anti armour, all are really solid.

Kum are good but overshadowed by Mutts in the warband/smoke role. The named bikers are pretty cool though, especially Kasym who is normal Impetuous rather than Extreme, and carries a nice long range weapon.

In the HI department, don't overlook the Al Faseed. They are amazing Toolboxes that can fulfill several roles, helping with redundancy in a relatively durable unit.

The HMG one only comes in the Red Veil Starter, but the HRL one comes in blister. And with the new Proxy Rules it shouldn't be a problem to field that one.

The new Haqqislam Starter (which also comes in Red Veil) gives you access to a Zhayedan, a Kawarij (Super Jump guy) and a Tuareg right off the bat, plus 3 Ghillim which can be saved for conversions if your Ghulam Quota is full.

Maghi is a good buy. I have the old model (which I adore and refuse to replace, no matter how awesomely sexy Scorpio-Maghi looks). I have never had a dull game when fielding Maghi.

Save for the Ghilim (& Najjarun) and the REMs.
Dunno, I did went that way a few years ago. Didn't complain.

Another way could be to branch over to Corregidor.

No! That path leads to the Dark Side! Yo begin with Corregidor, the you realize you're 5-6 minis away from a good StarCo list and before you know it, you're collecting USAriadna not knowing how you got there.

That's the way Corvus Belli is desiging the armies. Actually I'm waiting to see some nice utility given to YJ and PanO troops - for now, Druze Bayram is easier to branch into from QK, and StarCo from Corregidor (and, naturally, Ikari from JSA).

Well, this puts even more emphasis on spannungsbogen, self-restraint, the self-imposed delay between the fact of wanting something, and the act of reaching for it.
And yes, I have one army reasonably complete and two more very close to being complete. Plus a sensible start for the fourth.

If you’re going vanilla naffatun are amazing. Love them! Awesome models too.

We have such versatility with our vanilla units, there are a lot of combos. Recently I’ve been playing a lot with the Rafiq and barid to buff it for razzing up with marksman LSG. Then having a ragik handy for controlled jump is a strong play.

Other units that I love in vanilla -

Hafza - HRL disguised as a Asawira- the Asawira usually attracts attention from enemy link teams so when they move their HMG to good range to take out my ‘AP rifle’ dude I reveal the Hafza HRL template to hit the non link leader at +3 long range on 15.
Hunzakut LGL - one of the best units in the game. Mines and repeaters go a long way - and surprise shot with camo is awesome even though BS 11 sucks. You can also specfire onto link teams with her ‘free’ irregular order if you have no good plays for her - I killed a tiger soldier on a ‘lucky 2’ before.
Kum bikers (kaysim and the girls are awesome) - I like them more then mutts! Their speed and dogged is incredibly useful for messing stuff up! Kum are very underrated in my opinion.
Al Hawwa and Farzan - great for doing objectives, mine laying and hacking. Awesome infiltrators I usually take both.
Lasiq snipers/ viral rifles - insanely powerful, mimetism really helps in suppressive fire! Don’t forget climbing skill!
Maggie - most handsome model in the game a lot of rampage fun.
Ragiks - have won me so many games! They are so awesome! Dogged and decent BS and ARM makes them very capable at seek and destroying weaker enemy units/obvious LT - dropping behind kuang shi links is ideal. Recently Ive been dropping them in with controlled jump or an EVO kameel on the table.

Vanilla is my favourite faction, we have so many choices. When troops harmonize their skills it flows so well! Good luck

I just want to echo the love for the Hunzakut and the Maghariba Guard. The TAG is incredibly fun, especially when paired with Saladin and a Fiday.

As others have said, the Hunzakut may be one of the best units in the game. (Though I prefer the FO).

Thanks, got it. Which QK models other than Hawwa, Ghulam and Hafza will still be useful? A Djan HMG perhaps?

A problem with QK I have been having is choosing a data tracker. What are the interesting choices for vanilla? A Khawariji?

Sounds like a starter and Red Veil are decent purchases.

Djan HMG is great in Vanilla. Leila is always good. Kaplan engineer is situationally good. Akbar Doctor is great if you have the points and other 2 wound units. I’m sure you can make others work.

The Ghilim fireteam is nice in hassassins and I usually take at least one ghulam profile in any list.

*for data trackers, Tarik is king.

Don't forget the Evo hacking device allows fireteam:duo to be used in vanilla. It's situational but you may still get use out of it with Sekban and Druze.

Djans (HMG) are especially awesome in vanilla combined with all the smoke we have - mutts/Kum/LGL al fasid/fiday etc. also the djan sniper has done a lot of work for me, it’s regeneration has been useful or even as a dummy hafza to shut down firelanes and act as a distraction.

Don’t neglect Jannisarys - they're pretty tough and have 4-4 move which is helpful for pushing forwards. The doctor is amazing combined with al fasid Or Azrail as he picks them up to full health. I also like the HMG and boarding shotgun tin bot options personally. They do attract attention so be careful with deployment, the s2 profile really helps to get them in cover compared to their bigger brothers (al fasid/azrail).

Bashi bazouks are really really good. Their arm 2 and holoprojectors really help when coming on the side. The opponent has to chose which one gets shot. You can use the holos to remove mines, crazy koalas and mad traps. They have very versatile weapons - an EMauler option for dropping round the corner of heavy infantry, REMs and even tags. The sub machine gun/ Combi can do the ‘holo suppression round the corner trick’ too where you can go on suppression safely then poke the holo out base to base to clear the corner in their active turn. Theoretically, if you can get possitioning right you can get an Emauler and a suppressive holo poking around a corner in front of their heavy link team...

Yuan yuan’s can proxy as ragiks who are excellent drop troops. The spitfire is brutal at cutting down the chaff and the assault hacker profile can land in convenient places to attack heavy troops or to flip objectives in the last two turns. They’re dogged and mine seem to die a lot so use them aggressively to get what needs to be done done.

In my experience sekban are generally good in firefights with their arm 3 and x visor and suppressive fire with 360 is awesome for mid table defense. I like them and I like the HRL profile too as he’s a bit tougher then a Hafza.

Odalisiques I have less experience with, I’ve played them in a few games and they kick ass in CC and with their nanopulsers and submachine guns they seem to be a close range unit. You can cover their advance with all the smoke we have they can be really brutal up close. Also SSL2 and 360 helps dealing with ninjas and camo trying to sneak up on you.

Data trackers depend on the mission I find. An Al Fasid LGL can be really good at assassinating HVTs with spec fire. Also muyibs and even a lasiq viral rifle can be useful. Generally speaking I usually go with something that is a bit tough or has a specific way of doing it- speed or firepower or a trick. Tariq is great as he is tough and fast and brutal.

To purchase I always recommend to buy the models you personally love and are interested in as it’s always the best way to build your army. It’s the best way. Haqq are so versatile you can do anything.

For vanilla building based on what you have I would probably recommend

    hunzakut blister
beyond red veil (for the fiday, ragik and Tarik)
    ghazi mutts box
    Naffatun box
    Lasiq blister
Bahram starter (Farzan, muyib, ayyar and daylami all very useful in vanilla)
    Kaysim Beg
red veil (with al fasid if possible)

Say sorry to your bank account for me

That sounds good. I might also get the normal Kums and a Margherita.

My bank account has faced worse odds (like 40k).

Margaritas are lovely. Also take a peak at the Maghariba Guard. Extremely fun to play with. She’s a lovely TAG and pairs nicely with any Margarita you can mix up.

I was thinking pizza, but a margarita is nice too with some Infinity and avoids the problem of where do I put this when the table is full of Infinity stuff.

Can you guess what these units are?

    Ghoulems
    Al-Halal
    Eggheads
    Space Marine
    Shishkebab
    Camel
    Meat Loaf
    Turret

Some others have these old finnicized words (or possibly most of them, I should check some day). Janissaarit, bassibazuukit, odaliskit...
