Later this week I will be playing up against the CA in the mission Firefight. I was wondering on how many of you played up against them and what you used to fight them. My idea is this:
    g4YFZHJ1emUBIIEsAgEIADEBBQAAgXsBBAAAgXsBAgAAg9sBCQAAgdABAQAAgTYBAwAAgTYBAwAAEAEBAAIIAIYdAQIAAIYdAQIAAIKcAQIAADEBBQAAg9sBBwAAg9sBAwAAhhwBAQAAgU0BAQA%3D
I know that I have one remote but the Fiddler is able to move fast, same goes for the MBHs and the Pathfider. I Plus if I can get the Hunzakuts up near the panos I can use the grenda launcher to set up traps for the ones who get there or maybe blow them up if I could to slow down my oppent.

Vanilla CA means Avatar 99% of the time. Firefight Vanilla CA list will 100% host an Avatar, at least if your meta is like mine. Therefore, I would suggest building your list around countering Avatar and Smoke from Daturazis. What I would do is I would remove the Druze HMG and replace it with Brawler MSV2, then try to fill up the second group's Haris team with some high-burst weapon. E/M GL Druze is actually great for vanilla CA. Make sure he's in your Core. Maybe even consider swapping him for Clipper, but keep in mind you'll be rolling with the ECM (Guided) penalties in that case.

I would also consider including Armand and/or Wolff. The former can both ignore mods and impose them (MSV1+Mimetism -6), which will ensure that he won't be an easy target for the Avatar. The latter will have higher chances of disabling the Avatar in CC, especially when we compare him to Saito. Now, Saito has the benefit of Smoke and higher MA, but he is still very likely to get Sepsitorized by Avatar upon the CC engagement. And even an EXP sword will not kill that thing, even at Damage 16. Add to that the fact that Avatar is no slouch in Close Combat with CC 19 and you will be facing a situation where Saito can receive an unlucky hit and drop dead. Believe me, I know what I'm saying, I had a mere Zuyong beat Saito in CC, so Surprise Attack is the only thing that makes your chances to win better.

This is where we meet Wolfgang: +3/-3 from MA3 plus Para CC Weapon (-6) means Wolfgang can impose a -9 to Avatar's CC of 19 and do the same to Daturazi or Caliban who will most likely rush to his aid once the TAG is engaged in CC. Wolfgang can stun-baton them too, imposing a solid -6 to their CC. Then he will be able to finish them off on your Active turn. And on top of that, he cannot be Sepsitorized because he has no Cube.

Now, you have to keep in mind that Wolfgang does not have any advanced deployment skills so he will be eating up a lot of orders and your list has quite a few Irregulars and those Irregulars can only scratch the Avatar, nothing more. You can deploy a Repeater with your Hunzakut and then hack him with Valerya, but Avatar is immune to Valerya's upgraded Total Control and Carbonite is too puny against BTS 9 so the only avenue of attack for you is hacking him with Oblivion which he is very likely to either reset with WIP 17 or tank with halved BTS 5. As a side note, Armand can whack Avatar in CC pretty good too if it's your Active turn.

All of this is to say: the Avatar is better handled in CC in my opinion. Druze are strong in the hacking game, but their face-to-face willpower is average, and Vanilla CA's willpower is anything but average. You have a great CC specialist who can push the odds in his favor and ignore Avatar's scary template weapon.

Hope this will help you @Magekiller !

This is all you need to break an Avatar
