I love the Samekh – or rather I love the idea of the Samekh, raining missiles on your enemy from a safe hiding spot seems like the perfect plan for a cost conscious AI, who needs all its budget for repairing its poster boy soldiers LHosts.

Sadly the Samekh is widely regarded as a bad choice, as its just too cost intensive to push that button, and Aleph is a small elite army, that can’t spare the orders for these sheananigans.

Well “Phooey!”, I say, and pose you the challenge to make an awesome Samekh list, that can rule the tables. I open the ball with this list using the Phalanx :

    Base strategy :

First of all, you’ll need to get your opponent in the Targeted state. Spotlight is a choice for the optimists, so that leaves us the humble Forward Observer as the only choice. Phalanx has the awesome Thorakitai with forward deployment L1, WIP13, ARM3 and Enomotarchos to give them B3. We can get two fireteams with 3 FOs each, providing 8 orders. This not only gives us a base to use the Samekh, but also a decent force to Secure midfield objectives and hold them.

The next part is Sat-lock via an EVO, Daleths and Lamedh. Lamedh are of course dispensable, and you can send them off to deploy their sniffers and hope your opponents wastes a few active turn bullets on them. Their flash pulse is also a great nuisance, when it blinds a Yan Huo. But with the combination of EVO, and Daleth Sat-locks, you have a great weapon against pesky camo markers – and just another great way of handing out Targeted. Luckily these bots are fairly cheap, and also do nicely cheerleading. Set up the Daleths to guard your Samekh, and you can even get some nice Overclocking bonuses, and don’t forget that the FO skill is a BS attack, so will benefit from Assisted Fire.

I threw in an emergency crew of CoC Officer and Myrmidon Spitfire again to secure the backfield and the Samekh and help out the rest with a little smoke if needed.

So what do you get? A team of forward observers advancing under a B5 Spitfire, and one with an ODD B3 LRL, which should provide for some decent midranged fire. More importantly those 6 FOs force is multiplied as they provide LOF for the GML - You’re practically getting 6 missile launchers on the field, so should have plenty of opportunity to shoot it. And the best part about it, your opponent will be gunning for 13 pt. Forward Observers instead of high cost SWC heavy models.

You get 18 orders, and as you’re limited to shooting the GML 5 times, that ought to be enough. This should also give you the element of surprise, as noone will expect that amount of orders and underhanded trickery from an Aleph opponent.

What would you do to make the Samekh shine?

Quality over quantity, it's OSS after all. You don't need many FO, you just need to have the good ones at the good place.
The dasyu FO should be all you need. Infiltration, CH:TO, WIP 14, more than enough to mark the target you want. But just in case, you also have a core FO deva (WIP 18 !), a WIP 15 assault hacker with some repeater network, and a satlock. And a climbing+ murderbot if you don't think they are worthy of your missiles. Or your trusted core dakini HMG.
Remember that the rudras can benefit from overclock as well as the lamedhs and the daleth.
