Hi folks, still slowly plugging away at my miniatures. I'm currently working on an Umbra Legate in my few spare hours. I'm hoping to have him decently finished within the next few days. :)

In the meantime, here are some pics!

Unidron Test Model. Not quite finished.

Unidron next to newly started one.

    Maakrep Tracker WIP.

'Krep teaches my new Tohaa the way of the Sygmaa. :)

    Finished pic at games night.

    Butt cloat.

    Some pics of the front/weathering.
I need to go back and weather the feet, but I'll do that as a one job on the entire force I think.

Starting my Umbra. Wanted more dark skin tones and I'm quite happy with how this came out.

Starting the sword. I pushed the white highlights & corrected the mistake since this photo, but I feel it still needs work. Maybe more exaggerated white points and just more intense contrast in general.

That black to grey transition is just awesome. I'm always afraid to paint black for that reason. Well done, sir!

Cheers mate. It's the first time I've tried it so I'm happy with how well it's come out.

On bad news I knocked my Legate over and fucked the paint up, so I've moved onto new models while he is stripped. :(

Mind if I ask how you're doing those transitions? I struggle with painting black.

    Cheers!
Of course! I just do a mid layer glaze of my base colour so I do:
    Base: VMC German Grey.
    Wash: Nuln Oil
    Layer: German Grey/Dark Grey.
    Layer: Dark Grey.

Each layer progressively moving towards the edge. Then I tend to hit it with a thin German Grey glaze to tie it back together. Giving it a black glaze in the recesses and shadow areas if I need that contrast. Then I just highlight with I think its called VMC London Grey. I'll have to check that name.

Minor bump as I'm not dead. Am preparing to prime a bunch of troops this evening and get some more WIPs posted!

Thinking of tackling my Pneumarch and two Umbra next, as I really like the models. Then I'll settle for the Batroid grind I think.

Also am going to work on my Tohaa as a break away project in between. I'm figuring out how to tackle the scheme, after talking to Dasaan I'm goin to settle on the Errant Fleet scheme, so white armour, green symbiont (planning on glazing this with an emerald colour so its really rich) but I'm a bit paused on the third colour. I'm thinking dark grey panels to break up the white and light blue detail/lights?

Oh god... I'm so embarrassed by my Pneumarch... I can't wait to see yours.

Why embarrassed bud? Should be proud of having painted miniatures, tbh i'm pretty embarrassed with how LITTLE of my stuff is painted.

Working on fixing that one though!

Lol. You should see it. It's destined for the simple green at some point.

Once I finish a model, I do a mask of super diluted sepia or black ink just to being the model together. I forgot to seal the weathering powder prior to this, and the result was less than optimal.

I've done that with weathering powders. My can of dullcoat blew my weathering right off. :tearsofjoy:

Lol. It could be worse. It could be frosting because of the matte finish. I learned a valuable lesson about spraying a matte coat in the laundry room.

... or the time I mixed up the tops on the matte coat spray can and the white primer spray can... and that was with a client's miniature... not my own. :disrelieved:

Gutted, the last paint I want to finish off the gold is out of stock in most of the UK I think. S75 Elven Gold. Might e-bay the bugger tonight then come back to the orb when it tips up. :(

Forgive the late night pics, REALLY poor lighting.

Starting to glaze the orange on this guy. I'll be bringing the colour back in later on:

LOTS of contrasting work to go now, then I'll pick out my white greys. Feeling it as the back armour plate, top of his head, his vambraces and the raised collar bits (but keeping the overall collar dark grey). That should be enough?
