I've had these figures for years. I've finally got around to painting them but I'm not sure how to use them either in their own faction or vanilla. They actually seem similar to my YJ. What should I pick up next? I figured a Rasyat and a Zerat.
If you want to play them in vanilla Combined then the Rasyat. if you want to play MAF the Zerat is great and your only infiltrator so it goes in most of my lists. Rasyat is great. Kornak and a few Suryats. The HMG blister is enough to start. Anyat is also great but might be difficult to find. I used the Raicho pilot as a proxy until I got the original. Some vanguards and a Raktorak. A good core link could look something like Kornak, Suryat HMG, Anyat, Vanguard Paramedic +whatever vanguard you would like. You could also remove Kornak and upgrade the Suryat to Lieutenant +1 and Raktorak NCO. Also you’ll really need the standard CA remotes to keep machine guns at max capacity and order cost as low as possible (Q and R drones and Ikadrones). Go get em murdermonkey!
I used to do CA and Shasvastii but never with the Morats. So I do have REM. Though they are the 1st ed. ones that really don't mix with with the Morat look, so eventually I think I'll get the updated ones. I'm thinking of this as a "base". Going with what I have. Sure that works. Though I would probably switch out the Sogarat for a fifth Rodok (the missile launcher blister). That way you can have a full link where everyone has superjump. I haven’t used them myself but I can imagine that it might be awkward for the Raktorak NCO to keep up. You would also be able to get a few more orders into the list (Ikadrons or the like).
This is my goto core link: Kornak LT+1 order (why else play Morats), Suryat HRL, Vanguard paramedic, Vanguard K1 sniper, Vanguard hacker. That's already 133 points. Add a few cheerleaders, Ikadron, R drone. Then 1-2 Rasyat, 2-4 Daturazis, 1-2 Zerats and fill up with gaki/preta to 15 orders. That's what I've found most effective sofar, unless you go for the Raicho.
Yeah I pretty much agree but I have started to leave Kornak home. I rarely get to use him in CC and find him a little to vulnerable compared to a Suryat HMG Lieutenant +1 and Raktorak NCO.
That should be fine as your first purchases. Just be adviced that playing MAF is playing on hard mode as they have zero camo and not a lot of midfield presence. Zerats and Rasyats are great but only go so far. You are going to have to get the most out of your fireteams and brute force a lot of your problems.
