Just wondering, been a sucker for Neon Genesis Evangelion for years and with the last movie coming out soon I'm starting to get hype. Part of this hype translates over to Infinity, which I got into because I loved the future and anime aesthetics which were largely influenced by this series

Been wondering if anyone has had success or seen others using Evangelion Models for TAGs? If so, which specific models? Its really hard since I'm not into other models typically and can't really tell what size anything is, or which companies produce good stuff! Bonus points if it is unpainted but it seems that a lot of these anime figurine type things come in colored plastic.

Probably only for casual games but it would be so sweet to run them as an O-Yoroi or some such, a big gun TAG with some melee capability.

I don't think their models come in a small enough size to use for infinity.
Even a 1:144 scale anorexic neurotic schoolgirl giantrobo is ginormous compared even to an infinity S7 TAG.

Did a quick search and the height of the EVAs is very inconsistent, but the only "official" size i could find was 80m, 262.4ft. That's WAY bigger than any unit on the Infinity universe, including the huge thing from Defiance. It's like comparing a big tank with Godzilla, in comparison even the biggest is a babby. Using one as a TAG is right off because of scale.

Indeed. Remember that EVA/Angels are taller than a tower-building. Comparison to Gozilla in size is a good one.

TAGs in general tend to end up at S7, which means they have a "practical" height of 67mm in their silhouette. In comparison the "standard" 1/144 scale EVA model kits you can find ends up at 20cm tall, which is far too big. In my experience this is also the scale preferred by various Japanese Mecha kits, so finding a more appropriately scaled model is going to be hard.

maybe you have to look for gashapon-like options, which are way smaller, but usually are not so well detailed, or are SD, or are more rubber than plastic, etc.

another option is a conversion. O-yoroi has some part that have some inspiration from EVAs, and I think marut can be worked to some degree. If you just want EVAs and don't mind the scale, the old n2 dakinis are maybe the most inspirated in.

I always felt that the Dragao had a bit of an EVA vibe.

Just look at the O-Yoroi, the horn, the chin. You can't get much more evangelioness without getting sued.

Yes the second pair of arms didn't fit the evangelion Style but that's a typical Infinity element (for low tech factions).

The 2nd pair of arms is what happens when you cross-pollinate your NGE with Appleseed.

    Hey @WiT?,

I share your sentiment that Japanese toys would make great TAGs! Acting on that sentiment I have purchased Gunpla model to act as my Guija (I fielded her once). But as you can see it is not the best solution.

In the picture (sorry about quality, I had no time to set up proper lighting), to give you idea of scales, you see (from left to right):

    1. HCM-Pro 42 Akatsuki Gundam Complete Set Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY 1/200 scale, Built and painted costs ca. 50USD and comes with additional weapons etc. As you can see he fits on the 55mm base.

    2. Scareface

    3. Gundam Raiser – model found on Thingiverse (here), then reworked in some 3d software (cut off some parts, changed body proportions, equipped with Yu Jing AP spitfire, scaled to fit in S6 cylinder) and 3d-printed. I intended to use this one as Blue Wolf before the official model came out.

    4. Sphinx

    5. Zu Yong HMG

If you think about anime robots in Infinity, I strongly advise to take 3d printing route. Not only can you scale the robot properly, but also change some things and most importantly, give him appropriate weapons.

BTW, I’m quite sure I’ve posted similar comparison already, but couldn’t find it anywhere.

As for Evangelion, the very robot you show in your first post can be downloaded here.

I'm surprised, when I last touched base on 3d printing it didn't look as good as that middle mecha. Online designs etc are not something that I really thought about - way behind the times! I know some people with access to a printer so gonna look into that!

Thanks a ton for the scale picture. I feel most 1/200 gundams will be roughly that size so that gives an indication of what I'd be working with. A little bigger than ideal but not really a problem I feel.

Yeah, for doing it 'properly' I have a thread on Evangelion/Gundam scenery. But I'm not fussed about scale for running it as a TAG.

    @Axelius @Dragonclaw

They're not bad. I have an O-Yoroi from a very old JSA project that could be switched. The Dragao is very EVA-esk, but has no CC and I just can't see myself playing PanO to get access to it even with the new changes to Shock Army.

Maybe an O-Yoroi as a Guija or something. I think that would be a pretty suitable faction which has access to other sweet power armor models.
