Simple question: is engage vs smoke dodge is a face-to-face? From one side - smoke dodge works only vs attacks and engage is a movement. From the other side, here what is written in engage: If the target of Engage declares an Attack of any kind, including a CC Attack, against the user, and wins the Face to Face Roll, then the user receives all pertinent impacts and makes his ARM/BTS Rolls without moving. Thank you for your help in advance!
I believe @ijw has stated in a previous thread that smoke cannot have the attack label for it to function as it does and so wouldn't be a ftf here as it doesn't qualify.
When you make a BS Attack with a weapon possessing the Special Dodge Trait it is only a face to face if it blocks the LoF of incoming attacks. Engage is not an Attack and therefore cannot activate the Special Dodge Trait of a BS Attack made with Smoke ammunition.
Indeed. 'Unlike other Special Ammunition, Smoke can be used to avoid enemy Attacks, but only if those Attacks require LoF and a Roll, and their LoF is blocked by the Smoke Circular Template being placed. Smoke has the special property of being able to stop an Attack in the same Order it was declared. For this reason, using this Special Ammunition is a Special Dodge.' There's no way to make it a Face to Face Roll against Engage, and stopping .engage requires it to be a FtF Roll.
