Is it possible to voluntarily drop Camouflage? For instance if fighting an Aquila Guard in range of a repeater of mine using a Zero Hacker. I gain no advantage from my Camouflage because of the MSV3. So it would be advantageous for me to drop my Camouflage state while moving in line of sight. This way the Aquila would have to deceide if he dodges, shoots or resets. And If I am suicidal, I can avoid a F2F-Roll. If I am not able to voluntarily drop my Camo I am disadvantaged by it, because I have to declare if I shoot or try to hack him first and he can choose the appropriate ARO. I'd say it is possible to voluntarily drop Camo because it is "optional" but it is not listed as possibility under "Cancellation"
While the Camouflage Skill is optional you still need to meet a cancellation clause to leave the Camouflaged State. All the Skill really does is let you (re)enter the State.
Nope, you have to do something that meets one of the cancellation clauses. It's only optional in the sense that you don't have to deploy in camo state if you don't want to. Edit: Ninja explained it better.
Thanks. Sounds strange, that I am "locked" in my own camouflage. I .... just .... can't ... switch ... it ... off. So If my Zero doesn't do anything in this combat and is still in camo and ... is going home ... he has to shoot someone so his wife can see him again? SCNR
Spend an order to dodge first to get out of camo, or deploy a mine first before you reveal yourself to the Aquila. Those will break camo. Specifically drop a mine around the corner then next order force them to pick between dodging the mine, shooting your zero, or resetting vs the hacking attack. If you have the orders available this is the optimal way to engage the Aquila guard anyway.
Dodging sounds good ... although i am loosing movement this way. But I guess it would be a possibility.
Like I said break the camo by deploying a mine around the corner without revealing your Zero to the Aquila's LOF. Then next order when they pick an ARO they also set off the mine and get auto hit by the damage 13 template if they picked anything that wasn't Dodge, and if they Dodge you get a free hack at them instead. If you exploit AROs like this you'll ensure your opponent never has a good ARO option, only shit ones.
He can move into silhouette contact with her to reveal himself. This will also allow Surprise Attack against her. Although in my experience, most wives have Sixth Sense.
it's been brought up somewhere that if you're already in shooting position, you can declare discover, it will reveal you, wait for an ARO and then declare second short skill. in Discover description in wiki surprisingly there's nothing that forbids doing a discover against a non-marker unit. Though this seems a bit game-y, and perhaps needs an FAQ or something. Code: DISCOVER SHORT MOVEMENT SKILL / ARO Requirements The user must be able to draw LoF to the target. This Skill cannot be used against the same Target twice in the same Order.
you surely can discover non-marker units. it helps reveal holomask units for example if you have doubdts & can spare some save discover (like MSV unit from a smoke for example) or possibly rid of Holoecho without shooting at him...
issue I have is that in effects it only mentions marker states, so I don't think that it's 100% clear what was CBs intention - to limit discover to discover markers, or as you said, also including holomasks.
HoloMask state mentions specifically that Discover is allowed against them and the only way to for your opponent to find out if the target is in that state is to Discover or force a cancellation some other way. https://infinitythewiki.com/HoloMask_State Effects [..] In order to Discover a Trooper in HoloMask State, the Enemy must pass a Discover Roll. If the Discover is successful, replace the imitated Model with the real Trooper's Model, facing the same direction as the imitated Model. Cancellation [..] The Trooper in HoloMask State is Discovered.
