So last day I've played a Supremacy mission where you can destroy consoles starting turn 2. We had a situation that the enemy Guarda de Assaulto was hiding behind one and I've advanced my Joan and used anti-material mode of MR to destory the console. We've played that the console itself is removed from the table once it enter "destroyed" (-1 wounds) state but is it correct ? (if this is not ok then it's sad we both agreed that was quite cool and cinematic moment of the match :D) P.S. Guarda died xD P.S.2. Joan died somewhere after but opponent needed 15 Spitfire shots to kill her xD
http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Destroyed If the Scenery Item or the piece of Equipment was represented by a Marker, simply remove it from play. If it was a physical piece of scenery, place a Destroyed Marker (DESTROYED) beside it.
So if console is plat paper marker representing S3 silluete it is removed, but if I have a plastic/MDF/acrylic console it stays on table and just get a "marker" ?
I think the easiest way to discriminate would be "is it providing cover?" If so, it isn't just a marker, even if you're representing it with a marker. If it provides cover, it doesn't get removed from the table, even if it enters the Destroyed state. Destroyed is just referring to, like, the console being slagged, but it's still a pile of melted circuits that you can hide behind.
So then it is how I've suspected. Which sucks and takes away much of anti-material interesting and "cool" options. Back to playing old dull PanO without tricks.
Objectives don't have a silhouette, if it's a paper marker then it's going to be too thin to provide cover.
Strange, we were always playing objectives as usually S3 silluete (as most consoles use 40mm base) which provides cover.
Objectives should generally have a 40 mm base, yes. Either as a marker, or as a piece of scenery. If it's a piece of scenery, it provides cover as any piece of scenery normally would. Silhouette templates are for establishing LoF between troopers.
It's a common house rule, but scenery and objectives generally don't have a silhouette value. Which is good for me as I still use the original MAS square consoles.
we play both. Sometime we just put down the acrylic "objective A down here" objectif marker, they are 40mm and have a high 2D arrow, but we consider them simply transparent and can walk through as if the flat arrow wasn't there (and half the time the arrow ends up falling over anyway). Sometime we have nice console that are played as is, but with a 40mm base/fondation area where you can claim base contact to grab on objective (but base contact with cover still require you to move a bit more). And finally sometime we play with visually complex antenna that make laserpointer very hard to see if it block or doesn't block LoF and therefore we just consider them as being a fixed width and height for purpose of Cover/LoF/base contact/moving through, giving them any 40mm Silhouette value.
