Wave 1 Note: wave one content is just a repost from the main thread. OK i assembled all the core box + the collector models needed for the tutorial mission, this is my feedback. i like how the internal packaging holds the tiles snugly on the top layer and there are disk rows that fit all (but 4) of the substitute character tokens, there has been some clear testing to see how much space was needed if you sleeve every card. without the sleeves only 3 pockets are taken up miniatures "Infinity Defiance will have the highest quality metal miniatures that we can offer, and we have put the greatest of care to ensure that assembly is as simple and user friendly as possible." - defiance kicksrarter i have to say they are some of the worst infinity minis I've ever assembled. there is a lot of bending and filing just to get them to fit with noticeable gaps. ***** Edit clarification: overall the new way introduced post coldfront/ wildfire is a massive improvement in fitting them together, but the whole tolerance problem is still prevalent in these models. they work great when they fit, your smashing your head into a wall when they don't... **** I've learned from my stockpile of minis, that CB's miniatures design tolerances are a roll of a dice if they fit or not right out of the box (after shaving the excess metals of course), but it doesn't look good when some of their older CAD models somehow are less frustrating to build. some noteworthy examples; *i needed a drill (the first time i ever needed one, but not the last for this box) to mill out the cavity of UMA soren just so the upper half could fit more than 1mm in the socket. *this was followed by having to mill out trisha's arm socket.... *anges legs/base is extremely fragile and had so much excess thick scrap metal form casting, it (feels) could break on the slightest tilt. *billie just doesn't fit together full stop. (baffled why this wasn't a single piece, or their new way of having the arms spine one piece like the the other two remotes) there's a massive gap between the front and back. did anyone else have any issues so far or did i just get the unlucky box? UPDATE: since then I have retrieved a replacement billie. not as bad as original but there's still a noticeable gap size comparison of the Megaloroon finally got around to assembling the CE heroes;
Wave 2 Now that I've assembled the "core" of wave 2 (not covering all my reinforcement packs as they are existing N2-3 models) time to give my feedback The Good: Nearly all the models were a massive improvement over wave 1's quality in their design, they fit together quite well with minimal cleaning. though the lynx marksman had me scratching my head for a few minutes on how the gun fits to the body. Granted there is some pierces where the injector point is on the connecting stub but they were easy to clean off Seeing Cho on wave 2 sneak peek months ago had me concerned that she was going to be another billie however as you can see though there is a gap it fits quite fine. My two fav models are from the platinum box, i love Shinobou Kitsune pose though its not an overly impressive model (insert bais meme here). The image of Lei Gong doesn't do the mini justice of how imposing it is amongst the other minis. Every line is sharp and the pieces; rifle arm, body and left arm with wing, fit perfectly. The Bad, well more like a minor annoyance: note: both boxes have the same internal layout. Just like the core box the layout is quite good with the same problem with not enough disk token space, though this time I'm not sure if this time around they factored in the correct space for selves for the small cards. (UPDATE: there's just exactly enough). Unlike the core they opted not to have the clear top cover with indents for terrain tiles instead just a cardboard sheet with art. At first that may not seem like much of an issue, however if you tip the box on the side there is enough space or the contents to slip free from their slots allowing things to become misplaced at worse and irritation to players who like organized for ease of use. the big problem is Revenant has a terrain tile a millimeter larger than the space that if it gets dropped in the space below you'll need a thin hook to ever get it out. The WTF: As if there was a mandate for defiance wave 2 minis must have 3 pieces minimum when it could be done easliy as 2. Valerya assembly design just baffles my mind as they opted to make her hair a separate part with the injection point being on the edge of the connecting nub. the bag arm doesn't fit the slot at all i had to file down the inner arm and bent the bag just to remotely look like the image.
CE Box content Note: missed content from previous thread i forgot to add to wave 1 review (also had had a spare post to cover up because of a posting oops) OK I've just literally finished building the rest of the minis the only notable mini was victor messer having to mill both arms and neck (which being the second mini i touched in the batch, caused a micro panic attack at it broke my drill bit) contained in the foam is the all the metal modes (excluding the 4 alt models) for the core and CE + Valkyire and the complete CA side for Operation wildfire with enough room left for the expansion pack's models or scenery i've you didn't put them in the now vacant space in the core box
