With the Daofei being up in the opponent's face, the HMG (which the one from BRV comes with) seems a bit counterintuitive to me, since the Hsien and the Hac Tao fulfill the role of a long-distance threat better.

The Spitfire to me seems like the ideal compromise between range bands and burst, although it leaves a gap at 0-8" which the Multi Rifle would fill just fine. Despite his flashy sword, he doesn't really shine in CC, so the Pistol is probably the way to go on very short distances.

So Spitfire LT seems like a great model, because it can use the LT order rather well for re-camoing and general rambo-ness, but do you get a Pheasant CoC if you use him as LT? He has good FtF qualities and two wounds, but isn't it a bit risky anyway?

How do you field him and where did you get that Spitfire to put on the model from Beyond Red Veil? :P

wrong section? this is spanish yujing subforum. @Koni , move this to it's right languaje section

    But anyway I'll answer

I fin myself using Sitfire daofei almost 70% ot the time. The Hacker version arround a 25% when I need advanced specialists and a tool to stop TAGs/HI. But I find being a hacker a double edged sword, and specially punitive with expensive troops like cranes, daofei or hactao. I sometimes resort to the HMG version when the exclusion zone is in play.

I find LT versions cool. Is hidden and relatively safe from AD troops, but at the same time is closer to the enemy lines, so it requires some cover fire from allied troops or be pretty well hidden.

If you want a spitfire to make a conversion, the spitfire crane rank is your mini (same hand, HI and one handed grip). There are another 2 troops with one. The domaru and the tiger soldier, but both of them two handed versions. If you doesn't care to use a smaller version, the Guifeng spec ops blister has one of the old ones (just like the aragotos's one)

Hero of the people spitfire Daofei Lt all the way, just maybe as mentioned try and have a CoC model on standby.

My Daofei is as packaged I just painted it pretty, if you want to convert there are also the spitfires from the Sui-jian if you were going to convert one to a H:SG, If i get a second one at some stage I'll probably make it out of a spare CG spitfire I have lying around from a mispack

This is type of list is balls to the walls and is very binary in it's results. Either you completely decimate your opponent or you lose badly.

The other type of list is like this:

This type of list simply overwhelms your opponent with multiple strong attack pieces. Be sure to be VERY active with your Free Agent rule on the Pheasant, use it on the group you intend to go full rambo with or keep her in the 2nd combat group if you intend to drop the Tiger Soldier. With her Red Fury, she also makes for a very respectable late game attack piece/clean up.

As for the Spitfire, the best and most "clean" and cheapest source of spitfire I've found is the one from the Spec Ops box:

It's a bit lower on orders and there is no Ru Shi either (I'm not too fond of the remote models), but with two Guilang and one Minelayer I hope it will make for a decent shell game.

Two tigers might be a gamble, but I like these guys too much. The Kanren Killer Hacker has nice synergy with the Guilang FO

I don't have a daofei, and I do run a hac tao, I'm sort of struggling with how to handle order generation when I don't have any kuang shi - is this sort of 10 order list feasible or is it too compact? Losing JSA profiles has meant I've had to sort of scrap together the list.

I'm wondering if I should drop that Hac Tao in favor of the Dao Fei, but I'm not sure if there is a good way to handle 11 or 12 orders in a list.

I usually run Spitfire LT in combo with Executive Order Hac Tao, the SWC discount is too good to pass by and you can ruse the opponent with "obvious" LT in your DZ and then, immediately call attention to your real one by starting ruckus with LT order. It beats CoC with a psychological element - "there is no visible way to avoid LoL for him, so I am gonna pop out my TO units in ARO and smash!"

But HMG can be amazing if you get lucky with terrain - last tournament I got a high ground point in my half, and last-placed Daofei decimated everything that was not hiding in houses. Hac Tao HMG, a no-brainer attack piece, won't get firelanes that good without spending half of an order pool.

For conversion on the old Daofei (I left the Beyond RV one untouched by my woeful modelling skils), I used Spitfire from Spec Ops blister, there is also one in the CG box that you probably won't use otherwise.

That's a lot of input for the Daofei - thanks everyone!

How about the Guilangs? These guys seem like great complementary choices for Mr. Daofei:

I find myself really wanting to use full AVA 2 on these guys to support the Daofei upfield. Also, the idea of spending a coordinated order to re-camo three models gives me goose bumps.

The newest sculpt comes with the MSR, but I feel it's a bit lacking with only BS11, when the other loadouts seem much more useful. I'm tempted to go for a FO and a Minelayer which would be a compromise between having a specialist and an additional camo token. Not too sure about AHD, even though I might be lacking a decent solution against big bad HI's like Krizas otherwise.

    What are yout thoughts?

I love my guilangs and most of the profiles have their uses. Easily the most common one to hit the tabletop though is the forward observer. Mines, deployable repeaters and a flash pulse all compliment the combi to make an extremely useful specialist. It's worth remembering that with WiP 14 their flash pulse ARO is a very good nuisance piece. Although I can't forget that they also make pretty good use of suppressive fire.

The hacker is perhaps not the best but that's more a problem with the limited usefulness of the AHD, camo and decent WiP mean that they are pretty good on the offensive with those things.

I have nothing but affection for the multi-sniper profile and the loss of Raiden to regular Yu jing ends one of the sweetest partnerships I had in the faction. Remember that the guilang also has an MSV1 so that BS 11 will still hit pretty reliably even against other camo and mimetic troops. If you play on tables with low vis zones and areas the value of that visor skyrockets. At extreme range, in cover and with camo the guilang sniper is a very solid long ranged option that doesn't eat up too many points.

I learned this only recently, but almost all skirmishers are BS11 or BS12. There are really few exceptions. Camo + MSV1 gives them an edge against most other skirmishers, and the Minelayer profile gives you extra distraction for your Dao Fei at the start. It also makes your opponent real afraid to discover from closeup for fear of a boarding shotgun or hacking device. And the deployable repeater is a natural fit for a Dao Fei hacker.

At the point you want the MSR though, consider Lunah instead. 4 points cheaper, better BS, better weapon. The only things you lose are being able to recamo (not a big hit) and infilitration (can be a big hit.)

When it comes to the Daofei I'm in the spitfire LT (celestial guard spitfire) combined with a HMG hac tao EO camp. It's always fun spending your LT order the last thing you do in the turn to re-camo or go into supression mode and watch them spend their entire turn to hunt him down, just to pass over the LT badge to the hac tao :P

Guilangs I always do FO/Deployable repeater + minelayer if there's a button pushing scenario, or double minelayer (especially fancy this one when I bring the Daofei as well, 5 infiltrating camo markers are fun!)

Daofei hacker with two Guilang (one a minelayer, the other often a sniper) in support. That's 4 camo markers all within 8" of each other for maximum mindgames. Because I have the old Daofei multirifle and HMG, plus two of the new Daofei (one I bought, other from a nice friend who only wanted the Zhanying).

To mix it up, Daofei spitfire (pulled from the SpecOps blister if you want to convert) supported by a Guilang AHD and Guilang Minelayer. Again, all the camo markers within 8" of each other. Do you feel lucky?

Though I will note that you almost certainly want either a Ninja KHD or Kanren KHD (they're both 29 points, so same sized hole in your list) to support your Daofei hacker. To murder the opposing KHD.

That's a good point! Even if the Daofei is not a Hacker, he's still HI and susceptible to Basilisk and the like.

Another thing that came to my mind is the Zhanying that comes in Beyond Red Veil:

He's our mid-priced choice for Sensor and with Sixt Sense L2 he's fairly defensible (Mad Traps for +2 points seem reasonable as well).

He synergizes greatly with the Minelayer Kanren for a great anti-camo game against enemy infiltrators. Drop a sniffer during deployment to cover suspicious areas, drop another sniffer on turn 1 on an enemy camo token and reveal with a near 100% chance every time.

He can also be an unexpected LT and spend that LT order on sensor orders, even though he doesn't get Mad Traps in that case.
