Hi guys, played a game of Aristeia earlier tonight and a couple of rules queries came up. When next to an enemy model do you have to Disengage to move around them or only when you move to a hex away from them? When returning a model from the bench do they have to be deployed in the deployment zone (in the red hexes) or can they deploy one hex outside like when you deploy at the start of the game? Can a returning model deploy in a zone that is already occupied by an enemy model? I'm loving the game but finding the layout of the rules makes it hard to work some of this stuff out. Really appreciate any help!
When you are spending movement points you must make a face-to face Disengage roll when moving out of a space adjacent to an enemy. You do not have to announce what space you want to move into. If you get an unblocked success you succeed. If you fail you lose all remaining movements points for that 2 point movement action. If you succeed you may move into a space that is also adjacent to the same character - in effect starting to move around them. However if you want to spend an additional movement point to continue to move out of that space you make another face-to-face Disengage roll.
So you do have to test for every hex you want to move around an enemy model? That makes Gata's Freerun even better!
Models returning from the bench can appear in any deployment zone other than the current scoring zone. They must be in a space within the deployment zone - not adjacent. They can be in a zone occupied by an enemy model. In fact they can be returned even adjacent to an enemy model.
You must test for every hex when you want to move from a space adjacent to an enemy model. Remember Gata's Freerun is a Place not a move per se. She may hopscotch over several models or obstacles but when she wants to move away from the last character she also makes a Disengage roll. Of course her collection of dice favors her success but does not guarantee it.
Thanks for the quick replies! We were playing the deployment rules right but not the Disengage. Excited to play again!
