Discussion born out of the much dreaded Kamau Sniper in a link. I coordinate an order between a unit in Holoecho state, and a Camo token. Holoechos are nominated as the spearhead Holoecho unit has 2 holoechos draw LOF on the target. The real model stays behind cover out of LOF. Camo token also draws LOF on the target. Second half of the order after AROs are declared is for them to declare a BS attack on the target The goal is to get the target to commit to AROing on the Holoechos, only to discover they're shooting at holoechos and wasting the ARO. The point that I need to check is while the camo token will fire at burst 1, the spearhead doesn't necessarily need to be able to legally declare the BS Attack, it's all fine as long as everyone that can shoot the nominated target does and any other model that can't just idles instead.
Seems legit. There is no requirement for the Spearhead to meet the requirements of the order declared: if they fail to meet the requirements they resolve the attack as an Idle. Assuming that your opponent "Delays vs those Holoechoes" then they can only shoot at one of the Holoechoes. Note that the Holo'd trooper still declares BS Attack so drops their marker state. Nothing stops the Kamau calling your bluff and BS Attacking one of the other troops in the co-ord order ( or in this case Delaying vs the Camo marker). Dodge vs the Holoechoes (and consequently all other attacks) is also a valid response at step 6 of the order.
