Well currently Tohaa are pretty much either the most played Sectorial or the least played Faction, pretty much depends on personal preference. Lack of Sectorials is a limiting factor for the main factions. If there were big design flaws and niches that required fixing Tohaa would probably get releases to address that. If they had just 17 troop choices like USA, you could argue they'd need more diversity. So while we're technically just addresing luxury problems as usual, I'd like to ask for my actually useable Solo Knight HI, Smoke chugger, CoC dude and Multi Spitfire PanO TAG. Just kidding, I am curious though - what conceptional stuff would you guys like to see? From my point of view I'm having trouble to come up with ideas for new Tohaa troops that actually are assets instead of merely dilluting the overall pool. Do you guys have some ideas what you'd like to see? Stuff that doesn't boil down to "better gunner than a Sukeul" or "better Link filler than a Makaul". If it is the case that CB won't start developing Triumvirate seriously till later this year this might be your chance to throw out ideas someone might actually see and implement. What should be the focus for Triumvirate opposed to Vanilla? What should be the drawbacks and weakpoints? What purpose should individual troops have? Which Vanilla troops should show up from Vanilla and why?
I'd like a Chaksa HI that would be either linkable in Triads for vanilla and/or linkable on it's own and with Auxiliars in an Exalted Sectorial. We have seen remotes linking in other armies now. There is no reason Auxiliars couldn't do it as well.
I wrote extensively in the old forum about this. Before getting to the new stuff, I think the Sukeul should lose Fireteam: Triad in vanilla, but regain it in Triumvirate. I believe Fireteam: Triad is too powerful on the Sukeul in an already very powerful Triad rule. Isolating that juicy Sukeul Triad bonus to Triumvirate would ensure Triumvirate gets attention. While they are at it, I would also add Fireteam: Triad to the Nikoul. Since Triumvirate strikes me as unlikely to get Makauls with the inclusion of Yuan-Yuans, the Triumvirate Triads will do better to be combat-focused. Furthermore, another thing that seems to be imbalancing vanilla Tohaa against other vanilla armies is our unusually high AVA on several unusually strong options. I could easily see Clipsos and/or Igao losing some AVA in vanilla only to regain it in Triumvirate. I wouldn't complain. I also wouldn't complain if the Clipsos FO got a 0.5 SWC tax like the Regular, which, with all our extra SWC, strikes me as both deserved as well as appropriate, given the extreme cost-effectiveness of the Clipsos FO. As for new units, I do think there is a lot of room for an inspired designer. I am sad to hear that CB now sees Tohaa as a "sectorial", since the original promos for Tohaa and interviews with staff made quite the opposite allusions. Here are a few examples I can pull from old posts: Gao-Qoul Trinomial Spies Regular, Not Impetuous, Skirmisher MOV4-4 CC21 BS12 PH12 WIP13 ARM0 BTS0 W1 S2 Equipment: - Special Skills: Impersonation Plus • Martial Arts L3 GAO-QOUL Combi Rifle, Eclipse Grenades / Pistol, Viral CCW, Knife. (0.5 | 30) GAO-QOUL Boarding Shotgun, Nullifier, Nimbus Plus Grenades / Pistol, K1 CCW, Knife. (0.5 | 30) The Gao-Qoul is the highest representation of Tohaa's self-described "intrigue". This alien is a high-skill Impersonator than a Fiday but inferior to both the Fiday and the Speculo, allowing those units to shine in their respective factions. Impersonation has been asked for since year 1 of Tohaa and this kind of thing is not unreasonable. Ladael Trihedron Proctors Regular, Not Impetuous, Light Infantry MOV4-4 CC13 BS11 PH10 WIP14 ARM1 BTS3 W1 S2 Equipment: - Special Skills: Fireteam: Triad LADAEL Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) LADAEL Red Fury / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 19) LADAEL (Multispectral Visor L1) Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 19) LADAEL (Forward Observer) Breaker Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 19) LADAEL Hacker (White Hacker Device) Light Shotgun, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 15) LADAEL (Doctor) Breaker Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 21) LADAEL Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 13) LADAEL Lieutenant Red Fury / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 19) The Ladael expands Tohaa's basic infantry with a new sectorial mook. The Ladael Trihedron Proctors are more or less Tohaa's "Celestial Guard", adding weapon diversification, and mild Triad diversification to the vanilla army. Triumvirate would receive Ladael Proctors, but not Kamael Infantry. Kekeul Specialists Regular, Light Infantry Active Symbiont MOV6-4 CC16 BS12 PH12 WIP13 ARM3 BTS0 W1 S2 Equipment: Symbiont Armor Special Skills: Bioimmunity • Specialist Operative Inactive Symbiont MOV4-4 CC16 BS12 PH10 WIP13 ARM0 BTS0 W1 S2 Equipment: - Special Skills: Specialist Operative KEKEUL Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 26) KEKEUL Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser, D-Charges / Pistol, CCW. (0 |25) KEKEUL Viral Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 31) KEKEUL Combi Rifle, Viral Mines / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 26) KEKEUL (Minelayer) Combi Rifle, Viral Mines / Pistol, CCW. (1 | 27) KEKEUL Light Rocket Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, CCW. (1 | 25) KEKEUL Lieutenant Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges / Pistol, CCW. (1 | 26) The Kotail is a wonderful unit, and very fairly priced. However, the Kotail sees little play in Tohaa―I believe―because there are few models whom a Kotail can convincingly pretend to be, who do not also warrant undue attention. Primarily, a Kotail can only pretend to be a Chaksa Auxiliar. If he pretends to be a Baggage Chaksa, he cannot defend himself in the way that the Baggage Chaksa can, since the Kotail does not have a Direct Demplate weapon. If he pretends to be an HMG Chaksa, he cannot defend himself properly either, since the HMG will attract a scalpel to pry him off the table. Again, the Kotail does not have the kind of durability to endure that. Having another fast soloist unit, who is comparably priced to a Kotail, will serve to blur the possibilities, so that a Kotail + Clipsos could reasonably pretend to be 2 or 3 Kekeuls, or so that 2 or 3 Kekeuls could be listsed to make use of our Command Tokens and generally stop the overwhelming superiority Triading everything in vanilla.
I'm all in for having an Infiltrator Tohaa, but having another CC Specialist Infiltrator in the game feels... boring. And in Tohaa we like doing thinks differently, don't we? So, what a about a Shooting Infiltrator? Just give it enought CC and some i-Kohl to deffend itsef, and then give it good BS (13) and deadly short-ranged weapons, like a pair of Viral Pistols. It would be deadly to fragile IL's and IM's, and Tohaa would still struggle with high-quality, well-protected troops (HI, TAG).
I don't think we need another shooter or CC specialist. What I think we need is an impersonator who can disable enemy HI and TAG units, since those usually pose the biggest threat to us. I liked how Kaauri received a Pheroware tactic, and maybe it is a good idea for our spy unit to have one, e.g. Hellzone. I see something like this: MOV4-4 CC13 BS11 PH12 WIP14 ARM0 BTS3 W1 S2 AVA2 Special Skills: Pheroware T: Hellzone, Impersonation Plus, I-Kohl L1, Specialist Operative Option 1: Light Shotgun, Nimbus Plus Grenades, Pistol, Knife Option 2: SMG, E/M Grenades, Pistol, Knife
A friend of mine told me, he doesnt believe that Tohaa gets a sectorial. It made me sad but i tried to tell him, that we will get one (rather later than sooner) As for the Kauuri Pheroware tactic, I would love to see a Kauuri with a Pheroware to put down White noise
I would love to see a unit which is able to drap cover, like a infiltration unit with nanoscreen which can drop its screen so that others can get in cover behind or a unit that counts as cover
My wish list includes a nice heavier infantry, arm 4 or even 5 and a big beefy exalted human, kind of like Tarik.
I don't think Corvus Belli would ever make an Impersonator that isn't at least competent at close combat. The point was, they could add some nice mild new entries, without busting everyone's nuts with a big new TAG or Camo Symbiont, that both add flavor to Triumvirate and jiggle up the redundancy in vanilla.
BTW how many impersonators there are in the game currently? I can't remember a single one except Fiday and those dudes that have access to CYBERMASK.
Id like to see: martial arts 3+ troop (not a character) with symbio armor and triad something that costs less than 10 points other than a diplomat an ad/infiltration troop with corahtar anything with superior infil/ impersonation a tag without g:sync a troop with symbio armor and neurocinetics a troop riding a surda (ok not really but also really)
Holy crap that actually makes me quite angry I remember the devs stating in several interviews when the faction came out saying Tohaa will be a fully supported faction. Kind of a massive middle finger to players that started Infinity with Tohaa as their first/main faction.
Impersonater is a real gem skill that only a few armies have it in logical way. Vedics have rakhkasa legends. So in logical way we can see it there. Triumvirate means dirty. Spy things makes us think we can see a one in sectorial too. Well anyways we have too much time ahead. We will see it in 2019 or 2020. Eat healthy things. And live longer. Artichoke is healthy.
Interesting that Ikari Company seems to match some of the older speculation about Triumvirate having access to some of the uglier mercs.
Tohaa also have an impersonator in our lore as well. Dare I say it is the most flexible and versatile.l
My understanding is the sectorial is more or less play tested, but what is holding it back is the design phase. But on to wish listing, I would like to see more exalted profiles, and more bio beasts.
Oh yes, We Tohaa players can dream, can't we? there will be noTriumvirate this year but one can dream.
