We're now 4 out of 5 for sectorials and Sval is years off. The question becomes what do you think the Nords will bring to the game? Nisse fireteams? New units? Alternate Ulhan and Jotum profiles? Speculation go!
ohhh finally, I was hoping someone would start this thread! at this point I'm hoping for Nisse teams with mixed links with fusiliers. I heard that the Order Sergeants in those "Blizzard Force" CBLs were stand-ins for an unreleased unit. A valkyrie would be a really cool unit concept. I'm also really excited by the aspect of mixing the high-tech feeling of the nisse and playing them alongside Knights of the Order like Hospitallers.
Valkyrie already exists, and it sounds like she's coming out as a playable unit. I wonder if they'll find a way to get her into Svalarheima. Sounds like Sval will be a mix of PanO standing army, planetary Specialists that we know about, and perhaps some knightly presence. I wouldn't be surprised to see a mashup of Fusiliers (or a new line infantry,) ORCs, Nisse, Jotum, and one of the Orders that has a fluff tie to Sval. The game may look dramatically different a couple years down the road, compared to now. Who knows? New edition? New ways to play? They might heavily impact what Sectorials look like when they're released.
The RPG mentiones Mine Fields (Minelayer, Minesweeper, Mine Dispenser) and excellent Survival Gear (High BTS, Automedkit, Multi-/Mountain Terrain). The fortress-monastery of Saint John of Skovorodino is home to the Order of the Knights Hospitaller. Svalarheima is home to an ultranationalist PanOceanic faction known as the Nordic Warriors of Heimdall. In Trollhättan an ape-like creature over three metres tall roams the wastes in packs. These wild animals have been named trolls by the colonists, and their blood is said to never freeze. The soldiers stationed at Nykåfjord refer to themselves as the Troll Hunters, and several paint their armour and weapons to resemble the creatures. A soldier is not considered a full member of the regiment until he kills his first troll. Because of the climate, I think there is little Light Infrantry, because if you always need extensive suvival gear and insulation, MI and HI is more likely. Mentioned to be on Svalarheima are Fusiliers, Nisses, Hospitallers and Jotums. A Trollhunter (S5 HI) as new profile would be nice.
One thing I'm expecting for both Sval and WB (YJ Sval) is a cold-weather version of the basic Fusilier/Zanshi, like how the Acon Regular is the Jungle version of the Fusilier. Appearance-wise, this would be either long coat with hood/fur hat and ski goggles or normal armor w closed helmet. (long coat and helmet would get them confused w/ Nisse/Guilang) Profile-wise, they'd probably trade combis for marksman rifles and might add an MSV profile (where Regulars have a sensor profile). They would almost certainly have Mountain terrain. No ARM or BTS change, but a +1WIP bonus.
I’m hoping for an All Terrain Vehicle (maybe a hovercraft or quad) similar to a motorcycle but instead with slightly slower MOV that ignores multiple terrain types. That or giving some of the remotes mobility options such as multi-terrain or... climbing plus (as an adaption for the wintry mountains) I’m hoping for an army that focuses on hardened, elite MI infantry, sort of as a complement to Varuna, which specializes in elite light infantry. I’m expecting a lot of visors, especially MSVs in order to gain better vision in the low visibility areas created by brutal winter storms. There’s probably going to be a quite a few options for CH, specifically mimetism.
And lot's of Sappers! The cover provided by the foxhole is a great protection against those Fimbul storms (blizzards on Svalarheima) as well. So this technique is probaply part of the initial survival training for every soldier on Svalarheima.
I can see CB getting all excited after a trip to Vegas and including ice skating Knights in golden armour.
Jotums Nisse Hospitallers Order Sergeants and Fusiliers are confirmed from the Blizzard-6 lists. Full suite of remotes as usual. I suspect that we will see a mixed Hospitaller/OS link option and a mixed Nisse/Fusilier option. Notably this lacks any sort of Infiltration/FD, camo/TO, infowar-capable units, and AD units. So my money is on seeing a new camo/TO infiltrator, an AD unit (Valkyrie!) and hopefully some KHD proliferation (we already know the Nisse is getting one, for reasons). Sval definitely looks like it’s going to be a “brute force” sectorial. Lots of hard hitting elite units, hopefully supported by some toolboxes to clean up and achieve objectives.
