    General description


    Characteristic

    Combined army is considered as high tech faction and elite army. CA is built around distinct alien races and each of these alien races perform different task and can affect playstyle in the faction.

    Advatages

    + no Loss of Lieutenant

    + faction specific weapons, skills and equipment

    + access to almost every special skill, weapon or equipment

    + many powerful units

    Disadvantages

    - units are expensive

    - hard to build list with everything you want

    - not a beginner friendly faction

    - hard to master faction

    Specifics

    CA is combined from several parts: EI Aspects, EI Machines, Hungries, Morats, Sepsitorised Humans, Shasvastii, Sygmaa and Umbra.

    EI Aspect: The most powerful and expensive units CA has. They add biggest advatage to CA, because if they are Lieutenant, because you cannot be in LoL (with exception of Isolated state).

    EI Machines: Units that aren't part of any alien race of CA. These units are remotes and other artificial beings created by EI to accomplish specific task.

    the Hungries: Mindless beasts breeded by EI as killing machines.

    Morats: Brute force of CA and profesional soldiers specialized on direct attacks. Morats ignore LoL (not very useful in vanilla, because of EI Aspects) and Retreat and they are also immune to Isolated state

    Sepsitorised Humans: Right now we have access to only 1 sepsitorised human, but we will see more them in the future. Sepsitorised humas are people that were brainwashed by special EI weapon Sepsitor.

    Shasvastii: They are aliens specialized on tricks and deception. They are main source of camouflage in the faction and thez also add specific tricks (smart multi sniper rifle, Impersonation +, etc...). Shasvastii will be updated in Acheron Fall expansion.

    Sygmaa: Specialists in biotechnology. Right now they don't have enought units to say what is their speciality.

    Umbra: Alien race that is right hand of EI. they are known as Martial artists.

    - point cost. He is more expensive than Doctor and Engineer options in most of other factions.

    - Silhuette value. He is big and cannot access in objective room.

    Because of his speed he is good addition in almost every CA list and CA player don't need to add 2 separate units to have Doctor and Engineer. Unfortunately he can be easily killed, so it is good idea to add Slave Drones in the list, because this will add bigger operation space to Dr. Worm.

    - the most of time Morat special skill has minimal effect in vanilla

    Interesting loadouts: hacker, Forward Observer, Paramedic

    These loadouts give us cheap specialists options to accomplish missions. Hacker is good as support for your REMs (Assisted Fire for Q-Drone) or as defense against Combat Jump, Guided mod of shoot and he also makes your Combat jump units more reliable. Paramedic is good back-up for Med-Tech and he has good chance to heal any Morat unit. FO has access to Flash Pulse and that can be very useful in ARO and he is also cheapest specialist available for Vanguards

    Decent loadouts: Lt., non-specialist Combi Rifle loadout

    There are better Lieutenants in CA, but he can be used in low point games or when player don't want to use one of our offensive Lt. options. Non-specialists option is decent as fill in options when you have last 14 points to spend, but there are better options for that in vanilla (see: Daturazi, Ikadron Batroides + Imetron, ...)

    Avoidable loadouts: HMG, Light Granade Launcher, K1 Sniper Rifle, Missile Launcher

    You can take better option with these weapons (HMG, Missile Launcher) or they are very situational (K1 Sniper Rifle - better only against units with ARM 4 higher than Multi Sniper Rifle) or you pay high SWC tax (Light Granade Launcher)

    Right now I would avoid them in vanilla CA, because we have better options for the same point cost. They can be used in SEF, but even in SEF they are lackluster. This unit need redesign and it will hopefuly happen when Acheron Fall will be released.

    Cadmus is cheapest AD: Combat jump unit we have, but difference in the cost in the comparison to Fraacta and Rasyat isn't big enought to compensate his disadvatages. He can be used, but other AD: Combat jump units we have are better and I would avoid him in vanilla. We have also other better units in the same point brackets like a Shrouded, Noctifer, Aswang,etc..

    Our cheapest sniper option with decent defensive skill (sapper) with access to only smart multi sniper rifle (SMSR) in the game. SMSR is interesting and works as SML, but cost more points and more SWC than T-Drone (our SML REM). He also has lower BS than T-Drone. On the other hand he don't have disadvantages of REMs and have sapper skill. He can be used as cheap defensive sniper to control board and at the same time (if SMSR loadout is taken) to kill enemies outside of Haiduk LOF (it is order intensive and not always best tactic).

    Basic camo unit without infiltration. Aswang is worse in N3, than in N2 because he lost V:Dogged (Protheion no longer add V:Dogged to unit), but it is still interesting unit for vanilla. He give us cheap spitfire (1 SWC) and also cheap Lieutenant option with good defensive skill (disadvatage is SWC cost of Lt. option). With his stats and cost he can be used as cheap attacking unit, that can be very dangerous to enemy.

    Post HS N3 update made them more interesting. Old Striga special skill was reworked into new CC skill Protheion and Aswangs were given L2 of this new skill and they also gained additional 4 points in the CC stat. This update made them very effective in close combat and make them interesting in comparison to Noctifers. Right now Aswangs only lack specialist option to be perfect camo unit.

    One of CA characters. She has great stat values, but she is expensive and she doesn't have any close combat skill so she won't use her high CC value very often. She can be easily killed and her frenzy is big disadvantage right now because it shuts down her nanoscreen. Personally I think she isn't very good in vanilla CA, because there are many better choices for similar cost.

    Post HS N3 update. Sheskiin in post HS N3 Shasvastii update lost her frenzy, which made her even more expensive than before, but her nano-screen right now works for the whole game. She also gained some new tools and skills. She has Protheion L3 which makes her very dangerous in close combat and she has stealth from this new skill. She exchanged her nanopulser for Pulzer and she gained new loadout with Red Fury (long range weapon). Her high stats and new CC capabilities makes her much more dangerous and interesting option in vanilla CA. Her only problem is her point cost, her fragility (she can still be killed by 1 lucky shot) and that she can be overlooked because of other great CA options

    Another CA AD: Combat jump unit. Advatage of this units is two wounds given to this unit via transmutation. Her primary profile is fast (only other AD: CJ unit in CA with 4-4 is Cadmus). After Fraacta is wounded, she has better ARM and BTS values, but worse PH and movement. She is also only CA AD unit with specialist option, but her disadvatage is her low WIP, so she isn't very effective hacker. Because of her two wounds she is with Ko Dali the most used CA Combat jump unit.

    Umbra Legate is generalist. He can perform many task himself when other units can perform only 1 task. He is fast and with his Forward Deployment he can save some orders. All his loadouts have some usage. With K1 combi or with spitfire he is very interesting ofensive mid-table unit that can move easily where he is needed. As hacker he is dangerous in CQB and he can easily stop HI and TAGs or mess with MSV units. Lieutenant options are interesting in Morat heavy vanilla, because they are relatively cheap point- and SWC- wise (the cheaqpest option where doesn't cost 1 SWC for combi rifle loadout). His the most played loadout is probably hacker, but other options are interesting to try.

    Avatar is very special TAG CA has. He can be even harder to kill than Jotum, because of his ODD. Units with cube aren't safe mear him, because of his sepsitor plus. Well used Avatar can win you game, but he is very hard to use because of his cost. In 300 points game he will eat almost half of all points and more than half of SWC, which makes hard to build decent list around him. Avatar can shine in 400 points games where you will have decent amount of points and SWC to afford decent support for him.

    Raicho is the cheapest TAG CA has right now. It can be used effectively in right hands, but you won't see it often on the table, because Raicho is overshadowed by other similarly costed units. But Raicho still bring some things that these option don't have fast movement (6-4) and Multi HMG. Raicho only need different approuch to list building than what you can see in standard CA army.
