A quick glance over the model range gives the following associations:

    RED - AP
BLUE - DA (and possibly EXP)
    PURPLE - E/M
GREEN - Monofilament (though Penthesilia's appears to be golden)

Are any others enumerated or known? What about Viral?

First viral CCW off the top of my head is Makaul, which like DA is blue.

I think in the past when people have tried to map those out it has varied by faction. And they don't always stick to it with 100% accuracy.

Hussein Al-Djabel begs to differ, with his nice, green glowing claw hand of doom. :D

You've also got models like the Crane and Pheasant that changed what type of CCW they are equipped with between editions, but the studio miniatures were not repainted.

The only 100% correct answer to "What colour should this CCW be?" is "Whichever complements the colour scheme of the model."

The Combi Daturazi has a green one which could be a Shock CCW, but I think @colbrook has the right of it.

Indeed. Some AP (and some T2) weapons are steel and some are red.

There is little sense in a ‘rule’ for this. Real World blades can have a wide range of colors.

Before N3, CB had been pretty consistent about color-coding their weapons. Sadly, the file I had that stuff written down has gotten corrupted, and my external HDD is packed away.

    But from what I remember:
    EXP was red
    DA was blue
    AP was bright steel
Mono was yellow or green (depending on faction/model)
    Viral was green
EM should be blue-white (but there wasn't a model with an EM weapon when I did the research)

Nowadays, though, it's "whatever looks good with the rest of the color scheme"

I'll just go ahead and express my hope that you folks aren't having this discussion to enable some sort of WYSIWYG requirements. I honestly don't see a point of that particular issue being pushed to these extremes.

Hell no. Just to indulge my own obsessive-compulsive tendencies with WYSIWYG on my own army. As long as my opponent is clear as to what's what I don't care.

My WYSIWYG requirements are so that I can remember who has what, not something I inflict on my opponents. Too many liberty ports and college frat parties...
