I was reading the post from the official site about the backdoor crisis where the banned characters return. The bonus is that now on if anyone of them is used as a datatracker he receives an irregular extra order (that cannot be transformed to a regular one). Can this make Yevgeni playable? I am not sold. I think he already had a big red 'Shoot me dead!' sign painted on his forehead. To make things worse, I do not really know what I would want him to do with the extra order. If he were a good gunfighter or a specialist or doc/engie (like Andromeda) I could easily see him taking part in far more action.
He was mostly useless before, he still is now. If strategos allowed to change his datatracker order in a regular one, he would be intersteting but without this he is just as bad as he was before : too obvious a Lt, too big silhouette, too squishy

I would say that like with any obvious LT choice, you need to want to play it first. Then, DTracker's scenario tole should be theone, where he survives the game. So now, if you decided to use your Colonel as DT, he can go into suppresive for free. That is the only use for it see.
I used him quite successfully before in limited insertion tournaments and I actually intend to do so in the future as well. I think a lot of people underestimate the value of an additional regular order in limited insertion. My only reason to not run him in a limited insertion + Soldiers of Fortune event is that I really like the Emily Chain of Command and Veteran Kazak HMG LT combo. However, he doesn’t profit from the data tracker order really, aside from maybe going into sup. fire when a „survival“ data tracker is needed. So I wouldn’t say that my assessment of him changed due to backdoor. About links in TAK: We’ll have to see the full army list to make a proper evaluation, but based on his profile with SSlvl2 and the ability to go into sup. fire, I am not that interested in putting him into a link of Line Kazaks. Also because a list with a core of Line Kazaks is probably aiming at ~15 orders rather than being a limited insertion list.
