cvb280688-0692.jpg I'm trying to duplicate the reddish orange color on the studio Charontid. (The most recent sculpt)

Does Anyone know the exact recipe Angel used on this

I don't know for this model, but sometimes he has color notes on his Facebook page.

It’s in the second book I believe when I get home later this week I can post it. I don’t believe it is the exact recipe though just the list of colors. Unfortunately anytime you ask Angel for paint recipes anymore in my experience his response always seems to be buy my book or the paint set. Which sucks but I get it the guys gotta make a living and he probably gets a commission on all books and paint sets sold.

I do have both his books, and I checked them. It's a help, but they don't have the orange-ish hue that the Charontid has. I suspect he used a fluorescent orange in the mix somewhere... I dunno

Maybe they want to keep SOME secrets to stay at the top?

Or, Photoshop. If you want to do super bright red and orange your best bet are inks over white.

Totally the wrong way to do it, and all the top painters (let’s be clear, Angel is good but not even in the top25) are very nice sharing tips, ideas and suggestions. Even if they make a living out of courses or books.

I've seen Angel share color recipes on his posts before.

It's the same base, just a different side

For a quick "knock off" version the contrast red with a burnt orange highlight would give a similar look, but I doubt the red would get that deep.

In book two p.123 there's the Xeodron Batdroids recipe.
You may try it without adding white or replacing it with some yellow to get something more orange.

Yes, but from one side the base looks a lot darker and muted than from the other. The model is slightly darker. That is the hint that something could be going on... like a potatochop.

I think it's just bad lighting. The red patch near the back foot is visible in both images, although it's a lot more prominent in the rear view. It's mostly blocked by the front leg otherwise.

So so bad lighting that base, a horizontal surface, can be described as bright cyan or blueish grey depending which one you see? But still giving a good light over the model. I keep on thinking a mask or color based op made the base get a different look than the miniature. Behind/below the ass, in the left version there is a mid blue zone but in the right version it is really greyish.

BTW, I did not say a different base, but a different looking base. Things relate from one version to another, but something is amiss.

There’s blue osl on the harbinger bases from the front. The base surface is actually not horizontal but has raised, textured ridges on it and it’s higher in the centre. The blue could absolutely be near invisible from the back as it’s only on the forward side of the ridges.

That's likely to be your best bet if Angel isn't talking.
