I have a bunch of Caledonians, so I decided to get... More. And chop bits off and glue bits on. The newish HMG grey has two sets of arms, so the first job was to build him with the right handed gun, leaving the left hand gun and sword... The left hand HMG went on to the mormaer from the starter pack : Next I needed a boarding shotgun, and since @Bostria said in a Q&A that there's no plans to resculpt the Caterans, so I grabbed the sniper rifle from my bits box, and made this guy: The head and left hand come from the project z biker and modern infantry sprues. Next I took the shotgun, clipped, filed, and scraped the left hand off the slide, then chopped the starter pack Grey's rifle off, wich left room for the shotgun. The right arm with the sword pointing to the ground from the HMG grey fit perfectly over this, and Liam Neesons head was spare, so I decided 'what the hell': Finally for tonight, I figured I'd end on a simple one, so I made a heavy shotgun for the wulver by slicing the scope, barrel and magazine off, replacing the last two with random plastic bits to make something similar to a saiga 12 gauge shotgun: Tomorrow, the volunteers and remaining 45th will have things done to them...
Dawn of the second day... No wait it's dark... Either way first thing I thought was 'what's better than a Cateran? Two Caterans. Snipers work in pairs right? So I took the rifle 45th, chopped off the magazine, replaced it with about 2/3rds of a T2 rifle(got a few in the bits box now, can't think why...) magazine swapped the eotech type sight for a Finnish(?) scope from the modern infantry sprue, and the barrel for a peice of front fork from the bikers... (the white stuff is baking soda, not columbian marching powder...) Next I thought I'd probably best build at least one of the 45th as a 45th, but since I had the head from the old twin shotgun Grey in the box I decided to put it to use. The volunteers would be a lot simpler hands weapon swaps for an HMG, a double barrel sawn off and a revolver and knife combo... This left just the last 45th, so I figured... If I make a new Wallace then CB will announce a new sculpt to replace the 2010 one... (and if they don't I have one now so I don't give a short sharp shart...) Next step, paint.
Talented git. Can't wait to see some colour on these, I really like the clever use of plastic pieces.
Yeah... About that part... My talents, dubious as they already are, start to fray once the paint comes out, so what we have here is "tabletop standard" The more keen eyed might notice that Wallace's pano made backpack, is now the right way up... Eyes are my absolute worst thing ever, but I'll have a go tomorrow when I tidy up the tartans(though not too tidy).
I have a far more slap-dash approach to painting skin than is required for that method, but I can normally just about manage two black dots in two white blobs...
