Can a holoecho declare a BS attack ARO and does it cause a f2f roll?

There’s no permission in the rules for a Holoecho (other than the real trooper) to perform an ARO.

So a Holoecho that’s not the real trooper can’t declare BS Attack ARO, and the real trooper declaring BS Attack ARO will cancel all of the holoechoes.

    So this is incorrect?
    • In the Active or Reactive Turn, when activating the Holoechoes with an Order or ARO, the player must perform Coherency Checks at the start and end of the Order.

The Holoecho that hides the real trooper can declare skills, the decoys will then copy those skills exactly. The Decoy Holochos are not troopers so cannot declare skills or be activated by orders by themselves. .

I'm surprised that this hasn't come up earlier. It sounds a lot like "unconscious troopers have LoF" bug I found earlier. You are telling me that the text about activating (multiple) Holoechoes with an ARO only somehow only affects the (singular) Holoprojector bearer?

    Here is the entire quote.
    • Coherency. Each Holoecho must be in Coherency with another Holoecho, regardless of who is the real Holoprojector bearer. For example, one of the Holoechoes must have at least one of the other two Holoechoes in its ZoC.
      • In the Deployment Phase, the player can perform a Coherency Check after having deployed the Holoechoes.
      • In the Active or Reactive Turn, when activating the Holoechoes with an Order or ARO, the player must perform Coherency Checks at the start and end of the Order.

if the real one has LoF, it can ARO with Look Out, it is i think the only ARO skill with the "No Roll" label or stated differently, the only skill that don't require a roll and thus can be performed without breaking your holoecho state (you can Move without breaking the state, but Move is not an ARO skill).

Anyway, the whole group can declare Look Out, and then you can measure Coherency.

Though the Holoecho Decoys explicitly perform an Idle when the Real Trooper uses Look Out!

You could make a case that these fluffy sentences somehow prevent Holoecho decoys from declaring AROs.

    - The player must note in secret which of these three Holoechoes represents the real Holoprojector bearer, while the other two are just holographic decoys.
    - However, the holographic decoys cannot interact with scenery, and consider any Look Out! declaration as an Idle.
    - Holoechoes are considered real Troopers in regard to providing AROs, checking LoF, and activating Enemy weapons or pieces of Equipment (Mines, CrazyKoalas, etc.).

oh i always thought that line meant that if my Nasmat declare Look Out, the decoy would consider it as an Idle. In the sense that they won't get to turn around... but then, if the bearer does turn around it makes a roll and the decoy disappear.
So yeah, you are right, it is more logical they mean when the bearer declared look out, the decoy only idles. Just like if the bearer declare Open Door, the decoy won't open any door.

Checked the N3 rulebook and it's implied that the decoys don't declare any AROs in any of the examples. While this could be a case of CB making stupid tactical decisions, I'm now somewhat certain that decoys shouldn't be able to declare AROs.

They can't, they just copy whatever ARO the real trooper does, 99% of the time this doesn't matter as they'd be revealed anyway and the other 1% of the time they're idling as the Bearer uses Look Out, however the rule is future proof should there be a new ARO skill that the Holoechoes could perform
