I don't see why they couldn't, and I don't think it would cancel either state as it doesn't seem to hit their cancellation criteria. Of course the Alert skill doesn't have any effect because Hidden and Camouflaged troopers don't have a facing.
Agreed. Alert is not even a Short Skill/ARO to be declared (it is simply an automatic skill). It does not seem to correspond to any wording in HD about when you must place a camo token on board. Therefore the model will stay off table and not contribute his order.
