If an Aristos is the target of an attack, is the Active Character who his attacking her, her target?

Example. if Moonchild is target of an Attack by an Active Character who is 1-3 from her, can she use her trigger* to nullify shield results from Active Character roll?

*Trigger says: [Spend a shield] Nullify a [Shield] from your opponent roll if your target is within range 1-3.

    Tl.dr
Can Moonchild use her generic trigger when she is target of an attack, or just when she is Active Character and she is attacking another Aristos?

Bullet point 3, during an attack the Attacker becomes the Defender's target. (the same happens with the defender in Disengage rolls)

This is how defenders can potentially damage or afflict states to a model attacking themselves during the course of that attack.

Bear in mind they aren't activating any actions or attacks themselves, so only have access to generic triggers like the example you posted.
