I've used the new caliban with servant worm a bunch - the offensive applications are niche at best. However, giving him a servant to actually engineer things is surprisingly viable - basically you're freeing up the caliban to do offensive or objective work while stilling having the helper bot hang out behind the Q-Drone, which in turn saves you points on a kurgat or med-tech.
I prefer to use my G: Servants for repairing things, which means I put them far away from the engineer for better coverage. Since the Caliban is in the midfield and the G: Servant is in your deployment zone, that works even better than usual, since your TAG (or whatever) can start near the servant and then walk towards the Caliban's camo marker.
Can you have a servent attached to a camo marker? If so, I really like that idea. The Caliban is one of my favourite midfield specialists as I tend to value the CC ability as part of that role. Really makes the Q Drone viable as that wants a servant bot to truly shine.
I considered this today: using a Q-drone to Rambo and when it’s downed move the caliban up with the slave drone moving towards the Q-drone. He won’t risk shooting the save drone if it means taking a submachine gun burst to the face
I've done it a bunch - except i used the servant offensively. You can use it for stuff like forcing difficult ARO decisions on an opponent (eg. move the servant into base-to-base while the caliban hangs out behind cover not far away - if the target decides to shoot the caliban you can electric pulse them, if they decide to dodge you can get a free shot, etc). It's also fun to protheion on burst 2. :P It's really a non-issue that the servant starts 8 inches back. With 6-4 movement it catches up super fast.
On one hand, you're not wrong. On the other, Taighas exist and are among the best models in the game for safely penetrating an enemy defensive equivalent net. On the other other, if the palbot dies to a mine then the Caliban can engineer it back to full health. Modern problems require modern solutions.
I value an engineer in marker state quite a bit for when you want to do a repair after ramboing up midfield with a TAG or the like. Can be difficult/impossible to get to them otherwise. I don't think that's worth the point cost alone, but having a mid-field button pusher in camo state who can actually competently fight is pretty cool combination of skills.
G: Servants are assigned to a trooper. A trooper in Camouflaged state is still a trooper. In other words, yes you can. It's just going to let your opponent know that there is an Engineer under the Camo marker.
It's not terribly clear how much information you have to give to your opponent - which camo marker, full unit name, etc.
Which Camo marker. They will then know that there is an Engineer or Doctor under the marker, but there are no Camo Doctors in the game so I'll always volunteer that it's an Engineer.
So when considering a Servant bot for a marker trooper, the question will always be how much the loss of anonymity will cost you.
I'd like to rise another question in this thread. Can I deploy Dr.Worm with 2 servants, Caliban engineer and later during game, idk. ascribe one of servants to Caliban, using command token or somewhat else? I'm still kind of new in this game, so if I've overlooked answer for this question in forum or FAQ's, then I'm sorry :( Edit: Thanks guys for the answer to the first question :)
