A quick search tells me we never arrived at a conclusion to what the rules state, only what they should state on this question. The timing of when a Fireteam is broken is never explained, except for when something happens to the Fireteam Leader (i.e. at end of order) or for individual troopers (i.e. immediately) Question: if I voluntarily break a Fireteam mid-order, is it broken immediately so that none of my soldiers retains the bonuses (and possibly that I won't be able to declare a second short skill with some troopers), or is it broken at the end of the order? If at the end of the order, can troopers still get kicked out from a broken Fireteam for declaring minority skill? It is relevant to Exile.
Can you even cancel a Fireteam in mid-order? The sentence seems to indicate that you cannot: You don't need to spend an Order (or Command Token) means that it takes places at a moment were you are able to spend one. But you cannot spend an Order in the midst of an Order, now can you?
Given that there are no rules to resolve voluntarily breaking the Fireteam mid-order, how do you suggest it be resolved? How would it affect Exile in any case?
I think the idea is to break the Fireteam after moving into hacking area, to avoid being targeted by an Exile ARO, and therefore not get Isolated.
I don't have a suggestion, I have a question that I know has been asked before and not received an adequate answer and was asked the same question by one of my meta's players. If a Fireteam can be broken mid-order, the question is if it follows the more logical sequence similar to when the LT is Isolated (at end of order) or for how an individual is no longer considered a member wheb declaring deviating ARO (on declaration, as below) 4. E-drone declares Move 5. DoTanko Fireteam delays ARO due to Sixth Sense 6. E-drone declares Exile targeting Tanko1 7. Tanko1 declares Reset, Domaru1 declares Change Facing, Domaru2 declares Change Facing. Tanko1 is kicked out of the Fireteam. 8. E-drone no long fulfill the requirements for Exile because the target, Tanko1, is no longer part of the Fireteam. However, if it follows that you can't strip the Fireteam mid-order because you can't spend an order to do it, then that is an answer which, while following a bit of a skewed logic, I can absolutely accept
During the Order, the Tanko was part of the Fireteam. Why would the Requirements for Exile be retroactively cancelled for the whole Order?
http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Order_Expenditure_Sequence "If the Player declares a Skill and, when he applies its Effects, he realizes the Requirements are not met, then the Skill is considered null."
Yes, I'm fully aware of that. Again, what's letting you retroactively cancel the Requirements that applied at a point during the Order? That's like saying "I ended the Order out of LoF, so your BS Attack fails.".
Because I assumed that you're already aware of it. :-( EDIT - many apologies if I'm coming across as aggressive - I'm trying to have a discussion and find out why players think it would be possible, or have any effect on Exile, rather than committing an argument from authority fallacy by saying 'no you can't do it'.
I'm aware of it, but I haven't internalized that it can apply to things other than position. (Obviously) This is a very sprawling rule set, keeping everything in mind without making use of equivalents and shortcuts is very very difficult.
