I'm going to attend the German Infinity Championship* soon and since the TOs have decided to make it a tournament with the Soldiers Of Fortune Extra I'm now a bit stumped about which Merc would be the best addition to my Bakunians. So far I had great experiences with Le Muet on the Interplanetario, Saito turned out to be just a really expensive camo marker, Uhahu had no chance to shine as well and my Cateran was critted to death in every game before he could kill anything. In test games emily turned out to be a real crutch. The Question is, what do you want to play from Bakunin. Riot paintrain? Morlock spam? TAG? With SoF you can compensate weaknesses. The only real weakness is no CoC, therefore only Emily could be an autopick.

For obvious reasons the three "Moderators" will disguise the Cube Jäger's and Saito's existence.
If you're going to take mercs take a few Yuan yuan. In my experience they can cause a lot of outsized chaos for their points. Take Emily if you want, but I've never felt obligated to take a Merc or Spec op just because it has CoC. I play without it all the time, even when I play Aleph and have access to it.
I played a three-round, season 10 Solders of Fortune tournament last month and faced a total of 11 yuan yuans. A guy I didn't play brought QK and had eight on his list. It was a huge problem! I'd suspected I'd see a lot of yuan yuans, but yeah, they were disruptive every time and kicked my ass one round despite being completely prepared for them. I would write every list mindful of AD/EVO hacker. Your first-round opponent may not do it, but your last-round will.
Just from the minis you have I would suggest knauf, krakot & jager. Knauf is another tricky aro for opponent and he can be also used on the active turn. Krakot is an upgraded morlock. Jager is also a unit that brings a lot of utility. He brings best weapon in the game, so combined with AD you can appear behind opponents back and kill them. And complete classified/objective thanks to paramedic. You can even try to charge a tag using stealth + monofilament. While saito is great I don't think bakunin needs him a lot. You slready have Bran do castro & morlocks.
Funny Tristan228, :D since we will be meeting each other at the same tournament: I played similar lists already at the BIT. First was the Riot Grrls Core for Frostbyte, but I took a ML (for hard targets) as well as a second Zero with Minelayer and a TR drone. Not only you need to secure the midfield with your DT Riot Grrl but you also have to stop the enemy rush into your deployment zone to kill your DT. Second I played the Moderator fireteam with Taskmaster. Quite solid. Nothing more to say. With Zoe & Pi-Well you can handle most of the classifieds. I am thinking about bringing a few Yuan Yuans and maybe Raoul. I mean, having a badass guy on the table is always fun. :D I had another trick in my pocket and will play it again, but I won't spoil it. :)
I'll second Krakots and Jagers. The Jagers fill one of the large holes in Bakunin, the single AD option. Krakots are great in higher costed factions, but still have uses in cheaper ones. The Regular order and Impetuous mean they stick around longer than Morlocks tend to and they can really get in the mix well with the different weapon options If you roll the PH bonus from Metachemistry they are awesome at spec fire for example.
@natetehaggresar @helsbecter @TaHu @DukeofEarl and @HarlequinOfDeath thanks for your suggestions. So far I can conclude (based on my non-representtive survey) the favourite Mercenary unit is the YuanYuans, followed by the Cubejäger and Krakots. Due to the Lack of the Models (and not being able to borrow some) I'll not field any YuanYuan. On the other hand the Cubejäger is really tempting because as a Bakunin player I get another AD specialist but with the beneficial properties of a normal infantry (not hackable, can go prone, etc.). The major drawback is still the 1SWC tax which makes Krakots less attractive. They might be upgraded Morlocks but they lack the smoke grenades - that's not worth that whole extra SWC. The same applies to Emily, I'm used to play without ChOC. Also I'm a bit surprized that with Knauf only one long range Merc was mentioned since I had the thought troopers like him or Le Muet or the Cateran were more popular. You got the 2nd place there, congrats! I played Raoul a few times with StarCo... what can I say? He didn't impress me much. But I'm curious about which rabbit you'll pull out of your hat :)
I have finished my lists @Tristan228. So far I won't use SoF at all. I think it is a bad rule outside of Limited Insertion and I don't see any benefit in Bakunin. Will use my trick but that is a normal Nomads unit. :)
