Here's everything that's going OOP for Bakunin in April First: Most of this makes sense. These are basically all old sculpts that were ripe for a redesign. I even get the Moderators – you will make new ones for the Action Pack, and the old ones were one of the ugliest minis in the entire range. Even though for Corregidor, you kept the old box for some reason. But: Why the Taskmaster, CB? Why do you keep one (in the Booster Pack) and throw out the other that has the Koalas and Tinbot? Did he sell so badly? Or will you redesign one but not the other? And why the Morlocks? They have been redesigned two times already, and the currents ones are perfectly up-to-date. Why spend more money on new designs and new sculpts (which will most likely won't see another box of 4, but rather 2-3, even though you often want all 4 in Bakunin) when you can simply keep the ones you have? I'm just shaking my head here. Lastly (this one comes with a "personal opinion" disclaimer though): Why the Reverend Healer? You already threw out one, and this is one of the coolest poses in all Bakunin. It's also super recent and up-to-date. Why not simply keep it? At least the Riot Grrls are staying... @HellLois – any answers?
I'm 100% sure that taskmaster is going to be repacked into something like a 'Bakunin heavy infantry box' for C1. And I'm not crying for the morlocks. They suck big dinosaur balls. Remake please. This is some very premature complaining, mates. Relax.
Maybe this loadout will not exist anymore? Bostria talks about it in the 2023 preview video. Around 9:00, he mentions Morlocks and the fact they are a bit too much "wacky" and there will be a more cohesive theme for the whole army. Maybe to make a more distinctive design from the Moiras?
The Taskmaster is already in a code one booster, so my thought is this one may get repacked into a Bakunin booster at some point, with possibly the starter set Riot Grrl and something else. The reverend is at least 6 years old at this point. It looks good, but they seem to be going for a full redesign of the Observance units, as well as a number of the other units to better reflect the Observance's restructuring of the Jurisdictional Force of Bakunin with themselves at the head.
Maybe he sees new new light of table top into a "Fireteam Alpha Box" together with two Morlocks? Maybe to much complaining about their look of a specific comic-movie? I like them :-) But I since I own only the lim ed Healer from Bakunin, I will wait what the new concept brings before I start my third Nomad Sectorial.
Whacky or not, the Morlocks were decent sculpts. I’ll get them to have around for ITS events that remove the 15-units cap, and to proxy for other stuff. Might be my third unit of Uberfalls, even.
Most probably a new Bakunin fireteam box with a taskmaster and 2 morlock is on the way. Also, please get rid of those DC ripoff Morlocks and give us original designs like we used to have. It's a shame that the super cool blue morlock girl was discontinued in favor of a HarleyQuinn cosplay.
Yeah, the obvious reference Morlocks and Moderator SWC box were never that popular with large parts of the community. Redoing them to be more original seems like a good call. They also seem to be moving away from quad warband boxes.
Thanks people for all your very thoughtful answers. I have calmed down now and renamed the thread to something less incendiary. Sorry for the emotional outburst. I personally liked the current Morlocks a lot. Croc Man and Katana are some of my favorite Bakunin models. But then I also like pop culture references in general. Let's hope the Taskmaster will be repacked. It would be such a waste.
I'll bet all my monopoly money to a new sculpt for the taskmaster in the bakunin action pack. And probably he will be the only one in a long time, like Sepulchre or Daiyokai.
Man, I -just- got all my Bakunin painted and thought they would be my secret weapon for ITS 14. People usually underestimated them, except for Riots. Now they’ll have a ton of new hotness (which is great) but opponents will expect them to be strong. Oh well, small price to pay if the Observance gets better at least.
I don't think so. My bet is the focus will be on the Observancy so I expect Moiras, Sin Eaters, Custodiers, and maybe a new S5 profile.
I liked the pop culture nods as well, and I always thought it was kind of hilarious that Nomads had the most direct references. They seem like the army that would care the least about IP infringement: "Theses are the 'Protectors of the Universe' and "the Martyr Gang'. They are all original characters, don't steal."
