Just wondering if anyone had played or made missions with a more traditional attacker defender type set up, where each players objectives are very different? Does it work? Does the aro mechnic make it too hard for an attacker to break down a defense if the defender is able to just set up defensively ? I know the current mission pack is set up for balance and tournament play but would people be interested in a balanced but more asymmetrical set of missions as an option? Maybe to lead more into a narrative style, where perhaps the balance isn't as good as ITS but its more about cinematic narrative game style?
Just to note I am not meaning the removal of ITS just an additional set of missions.
maybe something like one player starts centre of board and has several HVTs and needs to evac a bunch of them while the other player needs to hunt them down to try to steal them to evac them .
Or one player is needing to activate a console I'm opponents deployment zone while the other needs to secure a room in the opponents.

We've experimented a bit in N3 with using the 20x20 mission set, with both players generating their own separate set of primary and secondary objectives. Since 20x20 also gives difficulty ratings for the objectives, we made a rule that for each tier of difference in difficulty, we moved the "centreline" 4" towards the side of the player with the most difficult objective. This meant that centreline objectives were closer to the one with the most difficult objective, but also that the player with the easier objective could infiltrate further without needing to roll. We played about five games of this, and they were all very fun and challenging in a different way from regular ITS missions.

There were a few asymetrical missions in the old campaign paradiso book as well. Those missions had some issues, but I don't recall the asymetry being one of them. Might be worth a look.

Daedalus' Fall has all the Paradiso missions updated in addition to its own mini campaign, should be easier to find the newer book.

Have a look at the Dire Foes missions too, I think they're all on the website, though I can't remember off the top of my head if any are asymmetric.

that should be the latest version of 20x20. It is N3, I haven't started to do an N4 version of 20x20. I think the ITS missions are so widespread right now and so good that 20x20 is obsolete.

There is actually a large discord server using 20x20 for a online league. You can have a look here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aCv9r5142QSnSRI82rn3XeXCL1ALfbaaCMSWdACnfu4/edit?usp=drivesdk
