The Sepsitor rule says it affects Cubes or "similar systems" but doesn't define what makes a system similar. Both Cubes and Rems can be targeted by Mnemonica, ostensibly because they are both systems that can host a personality. Does this make them "similar system" for the purposes of Sepsitor?
I think the similar systems would be Cube 2.0, which no longer has distinct rules in N4, or a theoretical pentahedron (one more side than a cube, therefore better!) Mnemonica isn't a memory backup device, so not that similar IMO.
Excellent point, I'm just going to go to Dodecahedron, twice as good as a cube, and also the Barbarian's dice of choice!
Sepsitor affects cubes. Remotes do not have cubes. Remotes are immune to sepsitor. Mnemonica has a specific rule allowing it's use this way. Sepsitor doesn't.
I think it used to be the case, but then they realized it was a humongous nerf to ALEPH. And I don't think there is even a Cube 2.0 in the game anymore anyways.
Wouldn't that be a buff? I'd rather a Sepsitorised unit died than turned around and started shooting my own guys!
Depends on the POV, I guess. I mean, sepsitorized units are still dead for all purposes, but they can be an order sink for your opponent depending on the situation. In any case, it's a moot point since that rule doesn't exist since N3 became a thing.
cube 2.0s are still listed on aleph units and in the rules for them are rolled into regular cube rules SP dying outright to sepp makes more sense, since their whole existence is to fight the CA
I don’t recall this ever being the case. Cube 2.0 was a networked continuous backup which allowed essentially no memory loss when coming back into a new body, but therefore when exposed to the risk of sepsitor, all backups had to be immediately and fully purged to avoid the risk of Aleph being contaminated. Nothing in that says that the host body itself suffered any immediate negative effects.
n3 human sphere page 217 in the directive 7; though partially stand corrected though its not the cube itself, the 2.0s defensive procedure triggers the L-gland in Lhost's body to destroy their mind and heart. amusingly they can also manually trigger it to avoid interrogations.
N2 campaign paradiso also covered this. It was supposed to be an automatic defensive trigger (however it didn't always work).
It doesn't really depend on the POV though :P It would literally be a buff to any models with 2.0 if they died instead of being sepsitorized in everything but the strangets, niche situations. Like, say you sepsitorize someone that can then be targeted by a template weapon, that then hits your Avatar. That situation would make outright death preferable. Sepsitorized units being order sinks, however, is a non-starter, because that's literally true of any unit. If I pump 8 orders into my avatar and achieve nothing, it has been an order sink, but in spite of any unit being capable of wasting orders, as a CA player I would MUCH rather have achilles fighting for me rather than just have him dead, even if I never spend a single order on him. Sepsitorized units put bodies between the enemy and your order providing units, which better in 99% of the cases rather than just having that enemy die. TL;DR: Units with cube 2.0 dying outright to sepsitor would not be a nerf to anything but the sepsitor itself. But yes, since it doesn't work that way, it IS a moot point. One that I just wasted my time addressing :D
