Hi wise Hashishin, Did anyone already find a use for him? I like the sculpt and would really like to make a use of him (in his actual role as an sneaky assassin not as a proxy for a Fiday :P ) Anyone using him with success, if yes, what was your tactic? Thx upfront
Stick to the Fiday proxy, he's not a good trooper. He's pretty close to being strictly worse than a Fiday.
Understand your opinion, nevertheless I would be interested if someone made him work somehow. :) I thought using him somehow like this: Putting him in as a Lasiq, have him deploy together with Asawira and Yarah. Moving him later out of the Haris and send him on rampage turn 2 when the lines of the enemy is broken. Just thoughts... I've seen someone take him as an anti-bear unit for the viral pistols. He was in a haris disguised as Leila. The idea was that the bear would confidently saunter over to murder Leila, and find itself eating B2 viral. I don't know if he decided it was worth it - to me it seems like a lot of points for a tactic that only works against Ariadna, and only if the bear takes the bait - but I guess he had a lot of bears in his meta.
Oof, if we're talking about the FTO option, I'm even more confident in saying that it's a bad profile. Holomask trooper pretending to be something else to gotcha is already a pretty mediocre play, but it can be alright if the weapon has wildly different rangebands or templates and catch someone off-guard (a ML decoying as a Sniper to trick fireteams for example). But threatening a pistol (even if viral) is not going to change how the opponent approchoaches the trooper. It doesn't change the math of the FtF. Paying 16 points to let you give holomask and better CC to a Ghulam is a terrible investment of points imo. He's going to act as a Ghulam in the vast majority of your games, but comes a ridiculous opportunity cost. For example, he could've been a Ghulam and another Barid in your list for example, making you hit 15 models and being sooo much more useful.
:D oof, c´mon it´s just brainstorming....and yeah your example sound very reasonable. It´s hard to justify his points. No offense, I'm not defending or a fan of this particular unit. Just trying to find something useful to do with him ;)
To be fair to the guy who was doing it, it normally wouldn't be F2F in that particular case - the bear would be either berserking, or planning on a DTW, thinking it could tank "Leila"'s ARO. So you might get in two unopposed viral shots in good range, or force the bear to throw a grenade to oppose you and still have better than even odds. Or, close to even odds if it's the bear with the shotgun. But yeah, you don't see me taking Yasbir so it's not a tactic I'm going to argue very strongly for.
But Yasbir doesn't have Viral Pistol. Am I wrong? Maybe you've mixed him with Ayyar? About Yasbir - I like to use units that other people don't and like to give a chance to most of our soldiers. Especially when the mini is nice and also painted ( http://www.coolminiornot.com/382396 ). So if you like him too, @Saitan247 than why not just try? Just for fun of it. In N3 I had some really good games with the infiltrating version. He even won me some battles. The option to smoke his advance and then click some missions is nice. In N4 I haven't used him yet. He's definitely not the easy choice, but we don't have to always take the easy road ;) PozdRawiam / Greetings
Huh, you're right. It was definitely Yasbir the guy had, though. I guess he must have planned to use the viral CCW, which, like 26 vs. 21 isn't even that great. Maybe he just hoped the bear would berserk "leila" instead of chain rifling her? Ok I take it back, that guy was just wrong.
Lol, extra wrong, because, if he was hoping to be berserked, it means that he didn't react on the previous order when the bear entered his LoF.
Hello, I did use of Yasbir in some missions like "Eraser" or "Looting and Sabotage", where the rivals have a tendendy to place too many deployables weapons as possible. Yas mir (the infiltration profile) is amazing to open a spot in the the enemy defences thanks his "holoechos", even to block the LoF of any ARO piece, because sometimes the enemy waits against an holoecho. To me is the main reason to make him a spot in the list. Because thanks to him Farzans or Fiday can reach safely any target without a big order waste and to 0 risk. But as great to do this he could be, sadly is a model too expensive. Not too well balanced. Still, he is a good CC fighter and a decent midfiled shooter. Even he can push some buttons. I did use of him too in missions like Front Line or Supremacy or Quadrant Control, when I want to use the kind of the list I call "nobody is at home" :). Lists which all people can be deployed outside the deployment zone. This kind of list are frequently low SWC.
My pleasure. Talking to other players I found several times that profiles I thought were garbage aren't in reality and I only have to change my perspective about them. Talking to each other is how we can learn new ways to have fun with our armies and put in the table new things :) Of course they are profiles which are in need of revision.
True, for me it is the same. I used the chance of being here to brainstorm and to try to make a model somehow enjoyable in playing as well and not only the cool look of the model (which I really like). Br
When I take Yasbir it is the infiltration profile and I take him for two reasons. The first is for his specialist operator status. He can push buttons well and starts the game next near consoles. The second reason is for his holoechos. Often in button pushing missions I encounter a lot of mines, krazy koalas, and camo markers. His holo echoes allow me a safe way to detonate these mines to clear a path more easily in turn two and three. Losing a holo echo is less expensive than a Farzan failing a dodge at -3 physical! He is expensive though, but clearing out deployable quickly with no loss to your order pool can be worth the investmen.
The best I've done with him is holoproject him as a Muyib minelayer (N3), then use the faux minelayer as an way to imply a camo marker was a mine, when in reality it was a Farazan. Which long ranged AROed and got a kill. In N3 I used to love this guy in vanilla, and hide him as 3 Halqa. Made for great reserve bait. But they retired the Halqa and there isn't any viable infiltrator in Haqq which the yasbir can hide as. In N4 I find he usually doesn't make the cut. The infiltrating Holo-Projector options are non-existent. If you are going for non-infiltrating Holoprojecting you have better options. If they made a Daylami Infitrating profile without camo, then the yasbir would be interesting. You can use it to fill out a faux 15 models and keep and AD or TO-Camo hidden. But If you deploy Daylami without using camo, you set off warning bells to your opponent.
Does this actually work though? How many mines a model still has is open information, and I don't think holomask allows you to mask as a Muyib with just 2 out of three mines left... Maybe old N3 rules in my head still though.
It doesn't, amount of mines is open information and holomask doesn't let you change things about the profile you're imitating.
