I was wondering if there are any plans to create another S8 unit like the maggy?

One thing that came to my mind is a kind of walking wall. It could be used to block line of fire simply because of its size. Same as the piloted tags can be and are used already to shield their pilot when he/she gets out to accomplish objectives.

It would be possible to create an unarmed REM unit with S8 that all or almost all factions get, with 2 or more points of structure and high ARM/BTS and a average mov like 4-4 or even 6-2, no arms (except maybe the obligatory electric pulse). Regular order so it could be used in coordinated orders. I wont guess about the point costs, but being unarmed it would probably pretty cheap. AVA 1 or at most 2.

Such a thing would add interesting tactica possibilities as you would be basically able to move cover around. Alternatively instead of being a unit it could be created as a special rules in a mission, something like connecting to a console to be able to move such a thing around.

What do you think abotu that? Anyone tried something similar?

    There aren't any known plans.

Interesting idea could be worth proxying in s8 silhouette and spoofing in an army cost to see how it works. Youd think it’d need a hell of a lot of play testing at cb to avoid it being op like a seraph with super jump moving up behind a disposable wall

All tags block lof. Not just the piloted ones....and they all block it on the dismount as well

Okay let me get this done: *obligatory RM100 reference*

On the one hand I think the maggy might lose just a little bit of the shine from having more big things around, but if you consider that most of the tables we see pictures of have maybe 3 routes for 55mm based minis to take from one side to the other, maybe the greater awareness of the larger silhouette would be created if everyone had access to one, leading to more diverse layouts, and tactics involving using the TAGs to block LoF so infantry can advance being more commonplace.

    So scifi mantlet?

Hm... should all silhouettes give partial cover and not just block LoF? Or be a new skill (Fortification)?

I feel like just a wall would be really uninteresting and not fitting with Infinity's scope or aesthetics.

I could see possibilities for another S8 TAG some day, though. The influx of S5 HI models shows that there's a design space for a bulkier, less-sleek version of existing mechanised concepts.

Those tables rarely actually slow a tag down. Certainly not a s8 tag.

Often what people percieve as a cluttered table is because they are looking st it from the perspective of s2 to s5 minis. As such intermediate size terrain is seen as a major impediment

Yeah there's already a giant wall, it's called a Jotum

We could give Ariadna an S8 tank, but that might be kind of broken given how cheap their regular orders are.

I've definitely played on tables where scatter or other terrain means that there are a lot of limitations on where you can physically place the model on flat terrain. The fact that you can vault over a lot of terrain opens up paths between those spots, but you may sometimes still be forced to give up cover to get the shot you want, etc.

There would be a lot of room to balance it around that.

edit: giant Tohaa beast armor like a BioVoltron cat.

Massive Symbio-beast is I think a better option. Go the carnifex route.

I think it's possible to balance an ariadna TAG by taking it to either extreme. On one end it could be a cheap, slightly better than a Blackjack profile so it's not a big deal, but my preference is for a massively bloated profile, or its own MI escort fireteam(not linked with the tag) to limit the ability to feed it with cheap orders by using up points...

Replace that cat with an Antipode and I'm sold.
EDIT: and since it's the age of cultural references, it will make for a nice Rick&Morty one.

Remember that without some extra rules moving units don't block LoF.
Of course, Coordinated Order is still useful option...

I would really like to see riot shields and possibly a police unit capable of creating a shield wall/barricade with said riot shields.

Then throw in tear gas for good measure.

The old Nanoscreen rules work pretty well for that.

I've wanted that for a long time. The idea I had was to use the N2 Swarm Grenade rules (a persistent smoke template that attacks BTS with Viral or Shock ammo).

Tear gas = old swarm grenades but causes stunned condition. That would be a fun in game weapon. Primarily cause I love flash pulse and this would be in ball park of equally annoying.

I like the persistent BTS attack thing, but instead of lethal, I also like the flash pulse idea.
