Righto another question, Played a friendly event and this came up... I fielded Ko dali with her multi rifle that has the AP/shock (in same line in army) option as ammo choice Upon declaring this choice my opponent told me i have to choose one or the other ... I pointed out the Bit and kiss has a sub machine gun and in army you ap and shock is each a choice in their own line ....so does ko dalis multi rifle sport both these ammo types in a single shot or must i choose one or the other?
It's the same effect, just presented differently. There is a rule regarding the use of "/" and it's explicitly an either-or choice. You need to pick one which will apply to the whole declaration. I'll have to dig in the rules, it's a difficult thing to search for. Edit: Can't find it, so I'll go for the lame rules quote. http://wiki.infinitythegame.com/en/BS_Attack It says you have to choose which weapon type if more than one is available, but never gives permission to choose several nor does it use language indicating several choices can be made.
Its just boolean logic "/" means or "+" means both Feurbachs are AP+DA you get both effects Multi rifles burst mode is AP/Shock, you must pick. -Nate
There's also the "language" answer :p + is a bit more special than merely boolean logic in how they combine, as can be read here: http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Types_of_Special_Ammunition
Thank you, Sorry i seem to have duplicated this thread, if a mod could merge it please. As follow up, Why is the ammo displayed differently in army for multi rifle vs sub machine gun? Just oversight?
Different era of release. All new weapons are listed ad per SMG. And I hope it will be the standard format for future.
Mainly because the MULTI Rifle gets AP/Shock via the Light MULTI Trait. The SMG doesn’t have that Trait (because that would also give it Burst 1 DA ammo), so it needs two firing modes.
For Rift’s benefit, you can look here on the Wiki. Light and Heavy MULTI both have a Burst mode, which includes the applicable language: http://wiki.infinitythegame.com/en/Traits Burst Mode. AP or Shock Special Ammunition. The shooter chooses which of these types of Ammunition to use. The whole Burstmust use the same type of Ammunition. This Mode allows the use of the Suppression Fire Trait.
