Hey. I'm making an alternative printer for Army rosters. And I thought that it might be interesting to someone here. The service accepts a army code from the Army App, and generates cards for each unit, which includes photo of miniatures and a list of weapons that this unit uses. I wanted to make it easier for my wife to enter the game, so the main goal of the service, first of all, is to help new players enter the game. Although I see that a small number of experienced players began to use these sheets too. I made some lists for popular starters, so you can look at the results of the latest updates. Operation: Wildfire Battle Pack: O-12, Shasvastii. I would be interested to know your opinion. So, welcome to DarkMaya :)
Looks good for Demo purposes. But a little bulky for experienced players. Having the knife stat on a sheet multiple times uses up a lot of space. One thing I would add to both your version and army would be to have Specialist icons.
I just tried it and you can switch to weapons chart per group and weapons chart per roster. It's looking good, I think I'll try it next time to see how it looks printed. PS: Just from a quick look: Suppressive Fire is missing and the Hacking Tables would be nice. But otherwise it looks great.
I like the note about knives, did't think about it. I’ll add an option to exclude them from the lists. Well, writing a rule to identify specialists will also not be an impossible task :) Many thanks for your healthy criticism and helpful opinion!
About Suppressive Fire. If we are talking about separate SF modes for weapons with SF trait - I really somehow did't thinking about it. Thank you very much, I will fix it as there will be free time. And about the Hacking Tables - everything is complicated. Army App code is very bulky, and includes a lot of exceptions and dirty hacks that are difficult to work with. And I remember exactly that there are special cases that need to be considered when building these tables. Therefore, I can't promise that I will implement this in the near future, but I will definitely try to devote time to this. And many thanks for the positive feedback about the results of my work! :)
True, but if there is an option to keep it there, it may be better for the most inexperienced players. All they have to do is look at the unit card for all the information they need (that's what I figure the point is, anyway). Obviously, the more experienced the player gets, the less they need the real estate for redundancy and can make it look more like the regular printout from Army.
The main group of people for whom I do this is newcomers to middle. I remember my feeling of emptiness inside, when you have a box with a bunch of awesome miniatures, you are happy to go into the Army App, and you only see a row of strange round icons, and nothing helps you understand how to find and identify the miniatures that you already have. And even when you found them in a lot of time, it doesn't get any easier after printing the roster. I had to number the bases, and make notes in the printed roster, which number corresponds to which miniature :) Do experienced players need such a sheet? I doubt it very much. But why not make the game easier for those who don't play often, or just starting out? Helping these people is my main goal. Recently, I received a message saying that someone began to print out the public sheets of their army in DarkMaya, so that less experienced opponents would be easier to play with them, just like a gesture of goodwill. And this case I find very cool. ps: By the way, it’s not so difficult to make a separate printer for hardcore players, the main roster-engine is ready. But I don’t know what is particularly lacking in ordinary sheets, for such people, so I didn’t even take up this work
For beginners your version is definitely better, a lot less flipping and more contained. I'm curious how you are displaying hacking programs.
when i started infinity, before N3, i preferred using unit cards like these. it helps a lot. but i thought it might due to my previous wargame also using unit cards.
I love it. Probably won't bother now but if it is N4 combatible I might print and laminate cards for my units and especially my main enemy units. Great work!
Would it be possible to get a version that features the whole profile: meaning all the profiles on one cards with weapons and all? That would be a great help to learn new armies.
I would be very happy if everything was compatible :) Not sure that I will be ready to spend so much time again. I don’t quite catch what you mean. Are we talking about, lets say, a unit card, where all the profiles of this particular unit are included? (i.e. Fusililers Card: Fusililer Combi Rifle.., Fusililer Hacker.., Fusililer Paramedic...) Or a common roster, without any changes, but for the whole sectorial?
If you want the whole profile grouped by individual unit, you can already do that using the downloadable unit profile pdf. Although it gives a weird dimension for a "card".
Yeah, I meant every profile with every gun on one card. Maybe it would be too unwieldy and it is very doable to just have several cards. For me the two greatest aspects with these cards are the images of the unit and having all the weapon stats right infront of you (without turning the page back and forth). That’s not possible with any other ready made solution.
I appreciate your work, it's a great tool!! Thanks for the good work[emoji106] Gesendet von meinem ASUS_I01WD mit Tapatalk
