Thought I'd start a thread to post my impression of the changes and highlight some minor changes. I'll be tacking the sectorials and then vanilla, overviewing the changes & Fireteams, then grouping my impressions into the three categories from the title. So let's start with OSS Changes: Andromeda Infiltration profiles drop to (Infiltration +3) Miranda Ashcroft has been added to the Army Fireteams: One Core, One Haris, Unlimited Duo alllowed OperationS Fireteam (Duo, Core, Haris): Requires a Dakini or Deva(Dakini), can add 1 Danavas or 2 CSU Yadu Fireteam (Duo, Core, Haris): Requires a Yadu, can add Shakti(Yadu) Asura Fireteams (Duo, Haris): Requires an Asura, can add a yadu or Shakti with the (Asura) tag Bounty Hunter Fireteam: (Duo, Haris): Requires a Bounty hunter or MBH, can add Miranda or Sforza FTO with the () tag Wildcards: up to 2 Deva, up to 1 Smaekh FTO, up to two Rudra, Trisha or Parvati, none of whom have any ()tags. The Good: Miranda adds some new options to the army Dakini teams are even more flexible, able to form a Haris, and with the Apsara can still get to BS19 in a composed or BS 17 in a mixed team at good ranges. 2 CSU also allows some very cheep teams to run around (43 points for a Dakini HMG haris) Danavas is Now core linked! Sixth sense and +1B pitchers are Here! Bounty hunter Haris is now an option, including a couple MBH if you want. The Bad: With No ()Tags, all the wildcards now break team composition. This definitely hurts my old strategy of putting Trisha in a dakini team to pick the bots back up. CSUs also break team composition, there's now a cost to shaving those couple points off. Andromeda is not slightly harder to use The Boring: Yadu teams still exist, but have very little options, and the dream of a good Yadu Core is dead, since Rudras and Deva now count as mixed. The Min 1 Yadu also means that you can't use Shakti as the basis of a haris. Reducing Andromeda's infiltration to + 3 now really means that she's only going up to halfway, as I'm not gambling on a 12 to get to the other side. Overall, I think OSS got some need hacking help, at the loss of a little meta fireteam variety (you'll likely see dakini based teams even more now) And onto Steel Phalanx Changes: Andromeda Infiltration profiles drop to (Infiltration +3) Bostria let slip in a video that there's be another SP update in a few months, so this is all temp Entemarchos is now gone* Fireteams: *Unlimited Duo, Haris, and Core, but a max of 4 models Myrmidon Fireteam (Core): Requires a Myrm Officer, or one of Macheon, Eudoros, Phoenix, or Ajax to form, can then add 3 regular Myrms Dactyl Fireteam (Duo, Core, Haris): Between 1-4 Dactyls Thorakitai Fireteams (Core): Between 1-3 Thoras Achilles Fireteam: (Duo): Mandatory Achilles V2 and Patroclus Wildcards: Acmon(dactyl), Hector, Thyrasymedes FTO (Thora), Hippolyta, Alke(Thora) The Good: I no longer have to try to remember how to spell Tacos Composite 4-model teams will now get +1 BS and +3 discover over their previous versions, and mixed are no worse off than before. The Bad: The original Big Boi list is officially dead, Achilles can't duo with anyone besides Pat to restrain his frenzy. No longer can he team up with Acmon or Hector. Thoras need either Thrasy or Alke added to get to 4 model composite fireteams, they can no longer do it innately Hector isn't a Myrm, so he doesn't get the +1BS for a composite team if he joins Acmon will also break the composite bonus for anyone besides Dactyls The Boring: Dactyls can now Core, I guess. If you want to throw a lot of glue and flammenspeers around. Overall, it requires reworking their big name skew list, but provides a slight boost to their regular fireteams. Not a bad change in the end. And finally, Vanilla ALEPH Changes: Andromeda Infiltration profiles drop to (Infiltration +3) Aida has a Minelayer profile 2 Duos are now available Fireteams: 2 Duos Available ALEPH Fireteam (Duo): Up to 2 Asura, Shakti, 2 Dactyl, Acmon, 2 Bounty Hunters, Miranda, 2 Yadus, and 2 MBH can duo freely. The Good: Duos are available again! Several interesting Duos available. Asura + Acmon, or Asura + Dactyl doctor are my first thoughts to try Bounty Hunters provide some intriguing options The Bad: Nothing really, no negative changes I noticed The Boring: it's vanilla I actually haven't played vanilla personally, the sectorials intrigued me more, but I think I'll try a game sometime just to try out the duos.
Is the Achilles duo thing confirmed? Because since it is a duo with only two character options, it makes sense that there is a minimum of each, but I recon a wildcard would still be an option
The changes with composition bonus hit all sectorials the same so the change there is not necessarily negative. The dakini core is still very strong even with wildcards. The yadu could use some love. The bounty hunter Haris is something to be explored. In my eyes mostly a positive change for OSS.
@RolandTHTG, thanks for the summary and personal oppinion. From my point of view the changes are all good. Nerfs and new rules are fine. It is a lot of work, to get all armies and sectorials done in one go, and so far it looks great to me.
OSS has some really interesting developments I think. The Dakini core with composition bonuses is a very strong fireteam. Putting a Danavas into a core team is a welcome addition. Buuuut, this means we have a choice, and it also makes the Deva hackers relevant. If you want a sixth sense hacker along with the composition bonuses, the Deva is your option. WIP 15, BTS 3, and NWI is solid, so it's a pretty good option, if a little expensive. The danavas can then go into a haris that features a Dakini HMG or a Deva MSV spitfire, which I think are both great options for an aggressive team. I'm partial to Dakini HMG, Trisha, and a danavas. Although dropping Trisha to put a Rudras with an on board repeater is an attractive option as well. The danavas doesn't loose much then, because you have a sixth sense hacker in the core team, you have the burst 2 pitcher (and she's only missing out on 1 bs because she's not getting the composition bonus anyway), and you have two strong hitters that can attack from different angles. Something like this could do pretty well, I think. In the new climate of composition bonuses, I don't think that the Dakini's need to be buffed like they did before. ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 DEVA (Hacker, Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser ( ) / Pistol, CC Weapon. New rules are interesting and shake meta pretty hard. OSS finally get access to some nice hacking stuff. Danas in dakini fireteam - it's great Hunting for "mono"-link in oss with dakini it's not a point, now we can form very flexible link with several multitools in it. All other armies lost their great bs on aro units. What i didn't like - Yadu, with new dakini we don't need them any more. Really enjoy those minis, but haris or core team of them is to pricy. Rudra - as for me this unit now rocks hard in new meta - with k1-mmr i close one of our weakness - how to kill high arm. Plus Rudra gives us a repeater in our rem-fireteam for evo-hacker magic and somekind of aro\active turn protection vs units outside lof but in zoc. https://infinitytheuniverse.com/arm...BAwAAgk8BAQAAglQBAgAAglUBAgAAglUCAgAAgMABAQA= Now with new marut thinking home to use her in OSS
Deva KHD performs just as good if not better than Danavas, and it was already available in Dakini Fireteams. And it counts as Dakini. So no, Danavas is still forgettable as always.
For me Danavas is way better, because of several options: Pitcher - we now get access for this great tool, for hacking\spotlighting targets outside LOF Oblivion B3 - stoping every HI\TAG\REM army White Noise - strong tool vs msv units. And Deva KHD - it only gives us protection vs hackers and that's all? And as i said before - monolink dakini gives us only 17bs vs 15bs of flexible link(because evo-hacker). Now OSS is cyber-army, where we can use strong hacking nets.
I only can speak for SSO, but changes suits it really well. Yes, we had lost some combinations but we have now others and true interesting, for example, I played before changes a list with a "solo" Asura (hacker+lt) in a group, and other full of dakinis, now is a "thing" because the "haris" option. Suddenly we have an attack piece not as "solo" but in a haris, so, you can kill, you can push buttons, be a menace to the rival, plus an asura hacker plus half of the table or a proxy hmg. What it looks for me is SSO is "better" than it was before changes. I place "" because this improvement comes thanks to the "dropping power" for other sectorials, much more affected than SSO.
