Calendar of events AdeptiCon – March 22nd – 26th, 2023 Gen Con Indy 2023: August 3-6 Interview Whats happening With Infinity in 2023 By Ontabletop Summary (Summary under reserve, I am not 100% English-speaking): - Starter set for Bakunin at Adepticon. - Very ambitious reskin of the faction, with a new logo, the fluff will evolve and the church of the Observance will take more place, becoming the heart of the faction, the church will lead to a process of theocratization of the ship in response to the corruption. The faction thus becomes a sort of nomadic Military Orders (or Battle Sisters, as the Observance is essentially female). - No Battle Pack box this year, we will stay on Operation Blackwind. - New graphic novel to come (gencon). - New fluff book called End of Days (gencon). - There will be a demo of the warcrow wargame at the gencon. - There will be a demo at the adepticon of the Ramper Design game. - Another infinity spin off could be unveiled at the Gencon.
Well another disappointing year, for me. I was hoping for some Yu Jing and NA2 love. Nomads just got a lot of figures with Corregidor in 2021. But they are pretty popular I guess. I'm not too sad about no Battle boxes. Those were a pain for me if I wanted it. So I'm guessing the top factions for number of new figures next year will be Nomads Aleph Haqqislam Combined
End of Days is an N4 sourcebook like Raveneye so will have army updates with it. The potential spinoff at Gen Con is from a partner, like the Ramper game, rather than CB produced. Apparently there have been several things in the works for a while but they all got delayed by the pandemic, so although it seems like a sudden expansion in projects and scope this has been building for quite a while behind the scenes.
For those interested, here's a total of new figures each faction received in the last 3 years. 2020-2022 O-12:55 Combined:47 PanO:41 Nomads:31 Ariadna:30 NA2:29 Aleph:28 Yu Jing:27 Haqqislam:18
Tohaa = 0, again this year, I was hoping for a reboot with a mercenary faction in a C1 battle pack. It is possible that Bakunin will cause the USariadna to be discontinued, as their starter has been removed and is not announced for a return at this time.
If End of Days is hopefully about the souls of Factions, it would be a great time for an update to Bakunin, ISS, and Qapu Khalqi. Looking forward to 2023!
Everything Carlos revealed about the rework of Bakunin urges me to send my Bakunin Nomads back to CB to get my money back. Christian Symbols on my Morlock Cyberpunks, Pupniks and Chimaeras? What a crap...
They may use Military Orders for that. But for me, Bakunin is Cyberpunk. My RiotGrrls will not fight under any Observance leader - even if it is a girl ;)
But it's Space Jesus! lol I'd love some more background of religion in Yu Jing. I think the background still applies, that the big three in China were re-invigorated in Yu Jing. Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. But Yu Jing was made of more than China. When they had JSA there would have been Buddhist and Shinto as well. Korea today is mostly no religion, Christian and Buddhist. Mongolia and Southeast Asia is mainly Buddhist and Muslim. I'm not sure who joined YJ and and who joined PanO.
Great news! Nothing against the Combined Army's crusade for domination and enlightenment and the epic battles above Concillium, but "A radical organisation quashes corruption, then establishes a more authoritarian societal order" is exactly what I want to see in a game about espionage and black ops.
I will be very surprised if Observance's new symbolism is explicitly Christian. You need to dig rather deep in the lore to see the Christian roots of Observance and it hasn't really behaved very Christian-y in the past decades. I expect a lot more in the knife department, when it comes to symbolism.
nahh, not that deep... ;) N4 Corebook, p. 116 Chapter " Bakunin (The Soul)" 2nd paragraph, last Sentence "Chosen Nation in the Eyes of the Lord". But you are right - in N2 and N3 Corebooks there were much more references regarding the christian Observance sect aka "Holy Moly of the Knife" or something similar.
Raveneye updated Morat, Corregidor, Kosmoflot and Military Order, so I assume End of Days will add on Steel Phalanx, Hassasins, Bakunin or something like that. It'll be interesting, I've been waiting for a new book.
I think waiting for at least the design concepts to appear before panicking over the symbols design is advisable. Moiras have the nails of the lord hammered on their back for 4 editions and nobody seems to care much about it.
Historically the archenemy of the Observancy was Aleph, not the CA, so... The end of the days of Aleph being a servant for humanity?
