Hi. I was watching some videos on YouTube and I found a guy that is making this: -player active moving into LoF of ArO troop. Active player is making measurement for ensure if is in ZC or not. -ArO troop choose his ArO. -active player choose his hacker program/ template/weapon with bonus. Because he was totally ensure if is in ZC or not. In my opinion: 1. Only ArO player can makes a measurement for ensure about ZC or not. 2. Only you can do It if you are not in LoF, because if you are on LoF...you are ensure that you have ArO (obviously) 3. For check about program hacker on ArO, repeater... or for check avalible order or not (for example, I choose hacking and I need to know if I'm in zone of hacking or not, but you Will do at the end of the complete order). I have doubts now.... Can someone shinning my road? Thanks you
As per the latest iteration of the rules: 2.1. ARO Check. The Reactive Player checks if they are allowed to declare AROs with their Troopers. Players can check from the Active Trooper if any Trooper or Game Element is inside the Zone of Control (ZoC) of the Active Trooper. It's written that Players can check the ZoC of the Active Trooper, not just the AROing player. There is no language restricting it to the Reactive player, likewise there is no language restricting it to when there is no LoF. For your third question, the ARO check (step 2.1) must be completed before the ARO can be declared (step 2.2), so an Active Hacker is eligible to check their Hacking Area before deciding whether to use a hacking skill or not.
But, for sure, only the ArO troop can make ArO check because an active player is not allowed to ArO. Imo this sentence is refering to ArO troop and both players can check this (not both troops). But just my opinion. Then.....is that means that I can go with my active troop making measurement and checking distance on mines, koalas, etc? Cloudy.... Can @ijw open my eyes? I'm scared about this hole...
It's also important that the Active player knows which enemy troopers are allowed an ARO as that can influence their decisions with the second short skill. The side effect of the latest rules is that you're essentially allowed to pre-measure the active trooper's ZoC, while this does open up a few game-y decisions like checking to see if you're in shotgun range, it also makes the game faster and has fewer potentials for misunderstanding as both players always know exactly which troopers are eligible to ARO (and completely eliminates the HD Lieutenant exploit). Also remember you're not allowed to measure further than their ZoC, so you can check if an enemy is more than 8" away, but you can't measure exactly how much further away they are.
Thanks you for explain. This is new for me and open so many options. In my opinion, the measure should be done on the reactive player and not the active. But I didnt write the rulebook xD If someone want to discuss this, is welcome.
