I'm set for a 400 point match playing Safe Area ( by random selection) tomorrow. By mutual agreement, 2 combat groups maximum size.

If it weren't for the extra time a 400 point match probably takes (and the god-awful idea of more than 2 combat groups) I think I might like it more than 300 due to being able to just take so much fun stuff.

    Thoughts? Prayers?

Choose the intel com card for add some value points to contest the sections at the end of the game, you don't need to much to go for the classified Obj, when you have a nice card with more than +20pts value. And you can spread the list, kornak's core supported by kiss (well, this pretty chick can protect ALL of your list and doing any classified wanted for hacker if you need... but, think about your suryats points value for contest). Haris team of suryats+raktorak supported by the Raicho to go in close quarters fight on the middle of the table, and you can remake your big core team if you losing any profile.

And... you have alrready 15 wounds list (with Raicho estructure points added) in 10 model profiles, the best way to go with a mission like this, hard to kill all the entire of your list on a firefigth.

Hmm. 18 models as i have in my list is the same size as another 300pt list I frequently use. 400 points seems like the perfect time to get stuff like the suryat core and sogorat link without running only 10 orders.

I was tempted to do the suryat core. Maybe next time. :p

Okay, so 400 points is really fun. We both ended up with around 18 orders. my list vs a Keisotsu link with CoC Kempeitai, an LT O-Yoroi, MSV2bot, some flashbulse bots, Saito Togan, Yurika Oda, Shinobu, and 3 Ryuken minelayer SMGs.

We played Safe Area. I ended up deploying first and going first.

    Round 1

The hungries were absolutely stellar. I managed to clear all of the mines, the koalas, and a Ryuken with the Vulkan Shotgun and the loss of a Gaki and a Preta. I also lost the Krakot SMG (rolled super-jump and 6-4 mov) when i thought the impetuous movement would not take me into a mine. Yaogat cleared the annoying ODD, and the hungries moved forward. I got a waaaaayyyy long-shot on the edge of the 16" range band wtih the vulcan shotgun to blow away a Ryuken, and 3 other models. Then I managed to suicide-run the Hungries into the Keisotsu link and O-Yoroik killing 2/3 of the link, and stripping 2 wounds on the O-Yoroi (srsly, Vulkan Shotgun, your my boi).

After the Hungries Cruise Missile was expended, I switched to the Vanguard link and rolled forward with them up a building to hold a roof top and one of the consoles with specialists. I used the HMG to clear the Kempeitai on a roof, turning him into chunky salsa. Shinobu appears, shooting at one of my troops and missing.

Then I moved the Sogorat link up a bit, killing a Ryuken.

Remaining orders were used to coordinate-move the Yaogat, Kurgat, and Daturazi. The Daturazi Impetuous Orders set up a good smoke screen; Mr. Yogurt Spitfire cleared the final Ryuken. That was just my first turn. Something like 10 kills lol

Good god where are his hidden troops? There's gotta be more.

His first turn was nearly as bloody as mine. The mostly-crippled O-yoroi flanks, killing a sogorat in only one attempt (seriously failed all 3 arm saves. :((( ).

Then Shinobu moves up to an adjascent building to my Vanguard link. The rooftop fight is bloody and isolated from everything else. Shinobu manages to kill the HMG gunner and ML, but the Forward Observers and Anyat are spared before Anyat gets some smoke down. I've lost 3 troops (plus the 6 from my opening turn that cruise-missile'd) - so we're about even on losses at this point.

    Round 2

First things first! Shinobu hid and re-camo'd into safety. This is perfect - the O-Yoroi could be shot by Anyat from very long range - the Oyoroi has no cover, and I've got burst 4 K1 ammo. O-Yoroi is Swiss-cheesed by a very good roll. 4 hits looking for 9's, and oyoroi failed 3 saves, if memory serves.

The remaining Sogorat and Kornak move up to take territory and do Kornak and Sogorat things - such as goad out a damned hidden ninja or whatever must be out there. No luck. the Feuerbach ends up on his half of the table on a flank overwatch of his deployment zone. Anyat and remaining Vanguards hide out as best they can from the impending ninja-massacre.

The Kurgat moves up, dropping mines every other order covering objective consoles.

His second round is in LoL. Hooray! Except it turns out I parked my sogorat with his back facing Saito Togan, who reveals and knocks the sogorat unconscious. in CC. There's some other movement with various troops but the LoL has really hurt him.

    Round 3

Saito is still in CC with my downed Kornak, so Mr. Yogurt is called to task after the Daturazi creep more with smoke throwing antics. Yaogat shoots for 3 orders at Saito, finally killing him, nearly also killing my precious Sogorat. An order to revive the sogorat is useless as I roll an 18 (COME ON!!) on the automedkit. I shuffle the vanguards more for better hiding.

His final round, Shinobu kills Anyat, and and he loses some troops to AROs from My Main Boss-Man Kornak with the Mk.12 - Kornak DOES end up in NWI mode though. There's some other exchanges, but Yaogat and Kornak survive, with Kornak juuuuuust inside one zone while the Yaogat is in another.

His round 3, he shores up Shinobu's position to out-point my vanguard quadrant, and his remaining cheerleaders move over ot out-point my Daturazi.

    Results

We tie on territory Control. I own the right side of the board, he takes the left. Yurika Oda is not quite able to get to a console, so I win very narrowly by having my Data Tracker (Kornak, ofc, duh) alive holding territory, and the clutching-for-life FO Vanguard has a console. We each have like 4 models on the table when it's done. What a mess.

Seriously, what a fun game. The 400 point limit really brings out the factional availability. It's such a shame it takes such a greater investment of time/energy in planning and such. Despite 18 orders each, we're both pretty experienced players so the match was only 1.5 hours long; I could see newer players taking as much as 3~3.5 hours with so many complex interactions as we had. I hope more people give 400 points a try - but no more than 20 troops.
