I have a tournament coming up in 3 weeks and just wanted to talk about lists, as I don't actually get to play that much. Scenarios are: Supplies, Capture/Protect, Highly Classified, Comms Centre. The event has no special rules, it's a straight 300pt two list event held over four rounds. I actually kinda thing I can run a single list for everything, really. - Supplies needs forward models to take objectives and pass them back to anyone. - Capture/Protect is about grabbing the beacon and bringing it back to your datatracker, or making a dash for it at the end of the game and holding it. Being Onyx, I don't have a lot of options; it's probably Kerr Nau. - Highly Classified just needs a lot of specialists. Dr Worm is a lynchpin. Kerr Nau can get a lot done himself. - Comms Centure requires connecting a lot of antennas, area denial and murdering specialists. Weirdly enough, I feel like every list wants Kerr Nau and a Malignos. Nexus Specialist Nexus Specialist Lt (cheap specialists to hide the Lt) Nerr Nau Unidron Carbine Unidron Carbine Unidron Plasma Sniper Unidron Spitfire Dr Worm / Slave Worm Q Drone HMG Malignos Hacker (10) E-Drone Ikadron Ikadron Noctifer ML (4) 6/300 I kind of want to shoehorn in a fifth Unidron as a Nexus is going to have to live in the link and hope it doesn't get broken. Typically the link will get Assisted Fire, with Kerr Nau doing his own thing. Malignos will problem solve. I'll try to pair the Q Drone and Noctifer in hidden so he can ARO to protect it/make a mess. Typically both the Noctifer and Malignos will be hidden, but not always. I also want a Fraacta for far forward disruption. And the model is amazing. I could switch in a Fraacta Spitfire or something in my alternate list? As for why aren't the Nexus pair Hackers? In my experience, people tend to make a run/come out of hidden and KHD my Lt. Either through an Ikadron or just in ZOC. That said, if I had the points/SWC I'd probably run them as both Hackers and pray for the 50/50. Am I crazy for thinking I can one list this?
Things to note: Your Datatracker and models carrying stuff (supplies, the beacon from capture & protect) cannot enter marker state. A Sphinx is a great equalizer. Fast, too. Going first is going better. Careful with causing Retreat!!! To the Enemy, it can mess you good if they have enough command tokens (even if you win, it can turn a 3 points victory into a 2 points one). Kerr Nau cannot Spotlight. Then again, Unidron FO XD. Two of them can give extra value to a defensive Unidron Sniper/Missile Launcher (forcing the enemy to split their Burst, or risk getting that unit flashed, so useless until the end of the turn).
Yeah, I've played 3 games with a Sphinx and shelved it until I get better with Onyx. It's a finesse piece.
