200 Pt List

    Playing in a 200 pt ITS in a week. Missions are Annihilation, Front line and Supplies. Last night I used the Haris fireteam of Domaru and 2 Karakuris and they were clutch so really want to keep it but seems like a lot of points for a 200 pt battles. 5 man Kiesotsu for orders and deployment zone defense. Yojimbo for smoke and CC mayhem. Struggling with last 24 points: Ryuken, Aragato Spitfire, Tanko or Miyamoto? Any thoughts or suggestions?

    I'm not very used to 200 points lists... From these missions the oultier is Supplies (in that one you need fast/infiltrated specialists), the other 2 are fine with hammer lists that just advance smashing things.
    Your list is fine for Front Line and Anihilation, but it may suffer in Supplies if the other player just take 2 or 3 boxes, run and turtle... If you can change lists for Supplies, try something with aragotos or Shikamis.
    For example, I'd give it a try to this list in supplies:

    This would be a 200 points version of my Smoke MSV2 list; I'll miss the Shinobu/Saito switch for turn 2, but it should be solid enough with Saito, double smoke, double MSV2, plus Oyama and Yojimbo to push forward.

    I'm not sure how well this would work, I'm not a big fan of the Mushashi Haris but in 200 points and in these missions it could work. These 2 missions don't need any specialists (for the clasified in frontline, but you can use the intelcom rule there) and in 200 points there is not enough points to add enough support to protect the HIs well (KHDs, Engineer, Hackers...), so the non-hackeable Mushashi could worth it and the Haris is relatively cheap; which leaves more room to include a more scary core and a harder to kill Lt than the Karakuki version.
    Again a Domaru in the Core to push in the last turns and Yojimbo to rambo when the oportunity arises.

    I really like your reasoning on Supplies mission and will use one of those list.

    I've never been able to use JSA Tag very well so sticking with KARAKURI or TANKO haris as my firepower.

    Thanks a bunch and I'll update after tournament.

    I'm glad it helped, and yep, please let us know how they work out!

    It was interesting to check the list building possibilities at 200 points; but as I said before I don't have much experience in this range of points. Both the O-Yoroi lists and the Karakukis were difficult to fill after the TAG/Haris + Yojimbo were added; but even if the CAP was hard to fill in the Karakukis, these are almost mini TAGs so they will probably perform well.

    O-Yoroi is tricky to use; I like it because it's very versatile thanks to Koalas and high CC plus MA (stealth!), but the defensive stats (ARM/BTS) are low for a 86 point TAG; so you have to be very very careful with it; a Karakuki have 6 effective ARM/BTS versus the 7 ARM/ 6 BTS of the TAG plus Total Immunity (Immune to E/M and AP!), and for the price of the TAG you have 2. The O-Yororoi hit harder and is not that vulnerable in CC tho.
    So yeah, the Karakukis are a very well rounded choice for a sturdy but dangerous unit... I've not posted my version of that list btw:

    My personal favourite is the Smoke MSV2 list with Ninjas or Karakukis for the killing missions; Aragotos for Supplies. But it depends on what the others factions are and the tables. With tables with too much scenography, I'd give the Shikamis a try; and if the other faction could counter hard the Aragoto lists, I'd play the ninja one in that mission too to kill fast the dangerous model and play from that.

    An extra advice that missed before, I'm not sure if you are used to Aragotos; but if they haven't seen too much table, it'd be good to practice a bit with them before the tournament; impetuous in models as fast as them could be tricky and they aren't exactly sturdy.
    Also an extra trick: you can dismount prone to generate no ARO and get the objetive without getting killed by enemy AROs:
    Basically, you drive past the objetive as first skill, second skill to shoot/dodge, next action dismount prone using the bike to gain total cover and get the objetive, third action (let's suposse you passed the roll) gtfo.
    If there is something too dangerous watching the objetive (link sniper/TR boot), use Yojimbo to smoke it first instead of this (if they have a HMG/Sniper MSV2 that can cover more than 1 objetive, then the aragotos aren't a good choice). If they push too agressively, let Yojimbo and Kuroshi do their thing in CC.

    Round 1 Annihilation JLA Vs. ISS
    Turn 1
    I won Initiative and went first. ISS army was based around Smoke, Holo and MSV2.
    Yojimbo moved up and looked threatening in the middle of board. Sent Haris team of Domaru and Karakuris down left side of table and shot MK12 across board to take out Celestial Guard Light Smoke Grenade launcher, then made it to a 2nd story roof top with cover and got Mk12 on his Rui Shi poking out of building. I was then able to maneuver on the top of building to take MK12 his Holos and spread burst and took out a Kanren.Then went into suppression to end round.

    I then braced for impact ISS went next. With his order pool depleted he had a Haris team of Pheasant Rank Imperial Agents with Sniper Rifle and took out Yojimbo that was ready to close and go into CC. Then started trading with Karakuris but MK12 won out after 3 orders. Just a super round 1 for me.

    Turn 2
    Haris team of Domaru and Karakuris then came down from building and cleaned out back line.

    Win 9 vs. 1 with 179 points left of troops.



    Round 2 Frontline JLA Vs. Shasvasti
    Turn 1
    I won initiative again and went first. I wasn't sure of what tactic he was using but I knew wanted to engage in CC and no MSV2 so I wanted to use smoke. Yojimbo moved up middle and popped smoke. with smoke in place sent Haris team of Domaru and Karakuris down left side of table and shot MK12 in the back line at Jayth Cutthrought. Karakuris absorb a anti-personal mine point blank but got the Jayth Closed out an objective and then went into suppression with Haris and Core.

    He had a Speculo Killer who threw smoke between his Nox core and my Keisotsu/Kempie MSV2 Core and then CC surprise Yojimbo. We both went MA3 and tied. He went again CC, I took a big chance went MA4 for extra burst and crit. He moved his core team of Nox troops and and my Kempei started blasting them through the smoke ARO. He made a big mistake in deployment and was hoping the Speculo could clear out my Core Fireteam but went after Yojimbo first that was at best 50/50.

    Turn 2
    I just cleaned up stragglers and finished 10-2 (helped him complete an objective and drop the data scanned before getting mowed down) without losing anyone.

    Round 3 Supplies JLA Vs. Tohaa
    I was concerned playing this mission since I haven't played it (I've only been playing for 2 months) and play tested the Arkira/Aragoto list twice supplied by Ogid the week before the event. I had a hard time wrapping my head around so many bikes and controlling the Impetuous orders so I used a list that I felt more comfortable with tactics of the units and hoped it would be enough. I have also never battled against Tohaa so I had no idea what to expect but the fire from rocket launcher and light flame thrower actually helped me out.

    Saito was able to make Superior Infiltration roll and went deep center where I thought he would bring supplies back. I was able to counter deploy JSA well and locked up the board with good cover. He had to use lots of orders to drop Eclipse Grenades and snagged my far right supplies and duck behind cover. He takes a shot at my core fireteam with Rasail and they make armor save. My Rocket Launcher Ryuken takes the surprise shot as an ARO and scores a hit, which is when I find out Tohaa doesn't like fire. He slows his offense at this point and moves troops around to set up turn 2 supplies grab.

    JSA Turn 1 starts with Kuroshi Rider screaming to middle objective and dodges a couple shots, then I have decide to grab supplies making an lucky armor save or dropping a light flame thrower template on Triads of troops. Easy choice and drop the template. I take two of them and burn the last one but fail my armor save from a flame thrower as well. His Rasail Spitfire is still a problem covering the board and near impossible for me to dig him out. My fireteam decides to take a chance with Combi Burst 4 and BS 13 while they are still whole man team. I score a lucky Crit needing a 4! He is still up but is hurt. I don't push my luck with fireteam and decide to put Ryuken SMG guys in postiton to cover the tech coffins and put them on suppression.

    Turn 2 Tohaa
    He opens up against Rocket launcher Ryuken and he dies (should have gone prone). I missed that he had more eclipse grenades and he used same tactic and snagged middle supplies. Instead of going on the offense he moves troops back to defend and decides to set up Round 3 supplies run.

    Turn 2 JSA
    I was nervous on when to pop Saito from Hidden Infiltration but he was literally right next to the unit with supplies and figured I better make a move before he goes again and he is further away. I attempted to CC surprise attack and grab supplies and run back to my side of board. He jumps out kills him but fails a mine I forgot about from Rasail. Well I go for broke and Ryuken SMG moves up and blast Rasail then goes for Tech Coffin on my left hand side. He makes that happen and my Fireteam on Supression.

    Turn 3 Tohaa
    He uses all his orders to wrap around my Ryuken with supplies but staying out of sight of my Fireteam and goes into CC which he wins. He has to decide to let round end or go for 3rd supply box which would allow me to take a shot with Fireteam. He gets greedy and I blast him.

    Turn 3 JSA
    I break the link and send Kempei around my back line and snag my one and only supply crate. Game ends Tohaa 5, JSA 1.

    I wonder how my first list would have faired as the Haris team of Domaru and Karakuris are just beast. Going second with supplies mission seams to be a real uphill battle. Learned a lot on how to use Yojimbo and smoke/dodge and this was also the first time using any Fireteams. I also want to look into all that funky stuff Tohaa could do with Nanoscreen, Sym. Armour, Eclipse Grenades, Triad Fireteams, Sapper, Stratuscloud, etc.

    Very cool battle report, ty for sharing!

    Remember you can dismount the rider prone using the bike as cover to grab the objetive without getting unoposed AROs. If the triads models are the only which can ARO you, you could have gotten both the objetive unopossed and the template in the triad.

    Aww, you could had waited for turn 3... as you went second Saito was perfect for last turn assassinate and snatch the supplies (and in turn 3 you only need to grab it, no need to return). I you didn't alpha strike with him, the last turn snach would had been perfect :(

    But anyway, 2 out of 3, congrants!

    The Rasail in particular REALLY HATES Fire Teamplates:
    - PH of 11, so not good dodging them.
    - Teamplate weapon, so no ARM bonus cover from Nanoscreen. That means AMR 1.
    - Even if ARM roll is successful, Nanoscreen goes off until repaired.
    - If fails the ARM roll, the Symbiont Armour instantly dies (and the Rasail still has to roll ARM to stop burning).

    Are fireteam used in this type of list?

    For example in the double ninja list.

    For this event they were allowed. We are getting ready to play a local Escalation League and Fireteams are not allowed until the 200 point level so that makes sense to run the tournament the same way.
