DBS is not the worst sectorial for unit variety, but given how much the core fireteam figures into the strengths of the faction many lists across several metas come out looking very much alike. We seem to have just enough unit variety to keep our opponents guessing if we have Bashis to come in, or if Saito is going on the table.. but still I suspect that many of our more competitive lists will have a lot of similarities. Outside of tournament settings I love to experiment with lists that get away from my standard formats, they may not be great, but then again they may work out well too. If you have some lists that "break the DBS mold" put them here and let's see what we have going on. One of my odd ones is the following list. AVA 4 Bashis is an intriguing option for me. Even without walking them on the side of the board the profiles are seriously solid for the points and most of them can go on suppression fire. This list is designed to coordinate the first group as much as possible and hopes to saturate the midfield with units on suppression fire, and with that usage of command tokens it is unlikely that it will be able to reform the core fireteam; so it lacks the redundancy that most DBS lists feature. It's order spam for sure too. At first I was pretty worried about 10 order Druze, but after taking a look at it; I don't think it's really that bad. I haven't played this one yet, and there is definitely quite a bit of variety that can come up... it's a bit of a puzzle fitting in what you need and what you want, you certainly can't get in all of DBS' strengths into it. It's an interesting challenge for LI formats, but how about 10 order DBS in regular formats? This one is far from perfect, but it looks like fun to play. Looks fun and still holds our strong core. Some things I would personally do (not saying its better), is put the Hunzakut in Group 2, drop a Kameel and upgrade the Peacemaker to a Spitfire. I really like the potential for some strong coordinated orders. *You got me with that second list before I could post! I always love Scarface and personally think LI Druze lists can be very strong. The only thing that worries me with lists like this (Both of them), is the lack of redundancy in our core team. That said, this thread is obviously for stepping outside the norm and other factions make do with much fewer options for their core teams. Two TAGs, I dig it. Haven't put one of those together yet for myself. I think you hit all the keys I would have too; KHD, Shock Marksman Rifle to replace the HMG, MSV-2 Sniper... yeah I like it.
Double Tag seems for me the only interesting option to go Limited Assertion with Druze. I am not sure if a Peacemaker is need though in such a list. Valerya without a Remote and to boost also doesn't feel that necessary, but her ability to link with Scarface is tempting. I love two Hunzakut, but think that your list may have too much going on. I'll explain - Two TAGs are going to be a large dump of orders every turn, at minimum just protecting your investment. Due to this, I would want to cut back on the orders I'm spending elsewhere and load up on regular orders. (Though you have to have one Hunzacutie). The Clipper is another order dump, requiring a lot of setup to use the SML. If you aren't, than you might as well take a Brawler HRL. Taking the Peacemaker allows you to have midfield presence along with a regular order to boot. Keep in mind it also grants you a fire template which can be extremely useful. Who would the Nasmat be for in this list? Do you break the Duo on Scarface and Cordelia? That's one of my favorite possibilities with DBS, so I'm not keen on it. FWIW I take the Clipper SML all the time and have only ever used its guided trait 3 or 4 times tops. The Clipper is an ARO beast in a 5 man link, it basicly has no bad range bands, hits just as hard as the ML version, and with Gromoz giving it marksmanship it becomes one of the more difficult AROs in the game to deal with. Moving fireteams in front of it is risky AF and even TAG/HI don't want to tangle with it. I am reasonably certain that I have achieved more ARO kills with it in the short time I have played DBS than I had ever with a hidden deployment TO camo sniper when I was playing MO. For 18 points I will happily let it be a sacrifice to keep my opponent from getting to my DZ if he goes 1st turn active. Link team redundancy means I don't really care if it goes down. It rarely makes it past the first turn, but I've lost count how many times it has killed more than one unit in ARO before it dies. As for the guided shots, well it's there if you have a good opportunity to get something targeted and I have gotten a couple of good kills with it, (including Tarik once :D) but that's usually only when I get to go first and DBS' WIP rolls aren't giving me that choice or opportunity very often.
Don't get me wrong, I love the little guy! I just think there are better options in a LI double TAG list. Obviously, that's just my opinion.
Yeah good points! I actually had the Druze Sniper in that list before the Clipper, and your point about the regular Order holds up, but as Jfunkd points out it was just more as an opportunity tool and not there for being aggressive pursued as a strategy.
This is theoretical, but it's as close as I have come with to a full Enhanced Reaction net with decent backup yet. The holo games could make this interesting. Hell, one or both Hunz could be LgL depending on the scenarios.
