as the title states this thread purpose is the discussion on the Adriaians reaction to the moment when the first dog face "wolfs out" for the first time.
It's "Ariadnan" not "Adriaians". Ariadna was the name of their colony ship to the planet of Dawn. It helps to get the names right, and increases the chances of people not misunderstanding you.
It is not documented in the lore, I am suspecting though that the first freak out would be at birth since dog faces are not looking human enouph. Though there may have been some tests before since Antipotes leaving (only) pregnant women alive would be an indication that something is wrong. Remember that Ariadna even though they are backwater for Infinity standard for our standard have extremely sophisticated technology and the first ship was full of scientists so the probably had the victims of the first Antipodes attacks under sophisticated medical exams.
I'd say they found it as interesting as discovering a new Species. Like @psychoticstorm mentioned, Ariadna was first and foremost a Colonization Ship, full of scientist and personnel trained in Extreme Enviromental Conditions; and I'm quite sure, eager to meet the posibility if Xenobiology.
well a more important question people will ask is how the dog face can maintain the dog warrior form when according a square-cube law they joints should collapse under they own weight. Also were do they get the extra mass for the transformation in the first place.
More sensate explanation that I have seen (and I daresay ADMIT it could NOT be TOTALLY grounded in "Official Canon" but could have been a sort of "Sensible Logical Fan-Fiction") is that when a Dogface Humanoid is subjected to intense "Adrenaline Burst" (such as the First Wound, yet counted for the Cameronians that "Enter Battle" YET in Dogwarrior "Werewolf" Zoanthrope Form; or jumping from High Heights as is inferred in Sergeant Duroc fluff of the "Equipe Mirage") that "Trigger Somehow" the transformative effects of the "Cuckoo Retrovirus" present in Antipode Salivation. . . The "Adrenal Boost" cause a "Spontaneous Mutation" of the Muscle Mass, Bone Structure and Morphological Frame from a Dogface HUMAN (ALMOST indistingusihable apart from joined "Wolf-Brows", slightly pointed ears, pronounced Canines and Fingernails, and some "Extra Body Hair" than usual) toward the Dogwarrior "Lycanthropic Werecreature WOLF-MAN" that have clearly TWICE the mass and height of the Dogface "Aspect". . . When they revert back from the "Crinos Battleform" (a Term that I mutuate from the old White-Wolf R.P.G. of Supernatural Horror "Werewolf: The Apocalypse") the more sensate explanation that I found is that "Extra Mass" somehow "Melt Away" as a sort of disgusting, smelling "Fat Sweat" (resembling the "Bloody Plasm-Fat Cells" extracted by Liposuction !!) that totally cover the "Back-To-Dogface" with a nauseous goo. . . It is more or less a "Unobtanium Handwavium Adamantite" explanation based on the fact that Corvus Belli wanted "Space Werewolves" in their Game; more or less why Teseum behave not as a "Superheavy Hyperdense Metal" but rather more as "Space Mithril / Marvel Vibranium" (allowing stuff like "Explosive Effect Mono-Blades" and Tactical Armoured Gears that DOES NOT collapse under their own Bipedal Frame Weight !!). . . . . . . . What is know of what GENERATED all that Stuff in this "Space Werewolf" theory is: When Tohaas tried to gene-engineer the Native Antipodes as ANOTHER "Uplifted Servant Warrior-Race" (and somehow failed spectacularly for still unclear reasons !!) they "Invested" them with their Triple-Diffuse "Sentien Mind in Three Different Bodies" kind of weird "Distribute Intelligence" and also a peculiar "Evolutionary Weapon" in that "Cuckoo Retrovirus". . . Antipodes (I HONESTLY don't know if it is the same for Males and Females) that bite another Antipode Female pregnant with a Rival's Pup, somehow "Rewrite" the Genetic Code of the infant pups and essentially "Replace" the unborn Genome; in this manner the more powerful Alpha Chieftains would become the genetic "Supreme Apex Predators" with a various, well-distributed "Offspring Descendance" but without even the hassle of mainatining an enormous "Harem Pride" of Females. . . But when Ariadnan Colonists arrived and the first PREGNANT Female Survivors were the ONLY spared to Settlement Attacks (caused in "Native Retaliation" because the Colonists did not understood the difference between a "Single Antipode" that is more or less a ravenous, aggressive Slavering Beast and a "Full Pack of Three" that is a Cognizant Sentient capable of reasoning, speech and communication) the "Cuckoo Retrovirus" somehow reacted VERY weirdly with the unborn human infants Genome. . . Even more weirdly if a Dogface Male impregnate a Human Female, or a Human Male is the Sire of the offspring brought to term by a Dogface Female the result is ALWAYS a Wulver, a Sterile Mule that have AT THE SAME time Human and "Wolfman" Characteristics. . . But Dogfaces are PERFECTLY capable of mating and generate offsprings between themselves; a Dogface Male AND a Dogface Female will create a "Baby Dogface" that will probably be able to transform into Dogwarrior at the onset of Puberty (that is ALSO the "First Trigger" for FIRST Generation Dogfaces). . . . . . . . Space Werewolves are VERY COOL (if "Reality Breaking") kind of Concept; I don't know why Corvus Belli has not overmuch searched about the developement of "Space Vampires". . . Although the various Iterations of the "Morpho-Scan" and "Protheion" Rules between THREE Game Versions could hint that indeed the Shaasvastii are a sort of crossbreed concept between Nosferatu / Dhampyr concepts and "Sil The Hybrid" from the H.R. Giger designed creature of the "Species" Sci-Fi Horror Trilogy. . . . .!!!
If the Tohaa on Dawn were the triumvirate and I think they were, the failure is because they use Digesters. It seems the devices are booby-traped to give the information asked, but in such a way it will always result to failure.
Paradiso fluff revealed that the biotech info they got out of that digester was corrupted because they forced it to give up info. (Apparently it has to WANT to share it with you - it probably has ways to gauge whether the recipient is advanced enough to use it properly and if it finds that you aren't "ready" but make it give the info up anyway, it corrupts the data so that whatever you do get is something that will result in your destruction. So you will "lie down and stop bothering it.". It's ALL the tohaa fault. They are the space macguffin.
so back on topic, it was said that the dog face fluff text that parents were part of the reason that the rest of the Ariadnans treated them as people instead of dangerous monsters.
