On first glance over the Ikari list, I found myself recoil in disgust. Apparently, I wasn't the only one and I heard a few phrases about dartboards being thrown around. I eventually came around, and the more I thought about it I realized I REALLY liked the profiles, but the aesthetic had too many "flavors" Ikari company contains elements of: -Sci-fi -Low tech (desperados) -PMC (druze, brawlers, wardrivers) -Samurai -Ninjas -Space Pirates (yuan yuan) -Cowboys (desperados) -Aliens (krakots/cube jaegers/le muet) As I thought about how I'd like to build the force, I came to the realization that with Proxying and Paint choices you can emphasize and minimize any element you want, its kind of a dream for me. You could paint your fireteam troops uniform with everyone else their original faction colors to give off a feeling that these are mercs and a core force, or everyone in their original scheme to give off a ragtag look, or everyone uniform to minimize that look. The possibilities are huge. We don't know much about Ikari until the book drops, but how do YOU headcannon your force? Any planned kitbashes or proxies?
I am kinda using minis in this proxy manner for years now, so it's just cool to have the official blessing now. Just pick up the minis you like the most, and use them according to there categories (HI, CC Fighters, Remotes, most LI, MI and SK are to a degree very interchangeable IMO). F.e. if you don't like aliens just use a Morlock as a Kratok. Also using minis from different factions but unifying them with a paint scheme works pretty great too.
I've always had irregular, mercs, and AD troops as odd and mismatching color schemes, and always painted units to a sectorial scheme. And I often used remotes from one faction for another. So I'm going to have a blast with mismatched schemes for Ikari. My Wu Ming are in Grey Urban Camo, my Al Fasid looks a bit like a shark, I just got a Bashi Bazouk which I plan to paint in the Ikari color scheme (kind of ironically as the only one that would likely match), JSA units/remotes are red, Karakuri look like from I-robot and I'll figure something out for Brawlers. I'll probably use Aragoto as Desperados, until I decide to follow through on this army idea I had for USAriadna. I'm just glad to be able to field all four of my Yuan Yuan at once. Overall, I don't think it'll look cohesive, but I guess the core would be "dark red" as vague as that is. . My plan for painting the Bashi Bazouk
Mmmm, i will wait to see brawlers models ( they are like generic mercs) but i'm playing to use a heavy nipon based force ( i'm a yu jing vanilla player). The only models ( not porfiles) that i think ones and the desperados. I will look for some proxies. Probably using aragotos with some conversion ( okey i have shaolins arms with chain rifles and they becone irregular nerc bikers insted of wierd space ariadna hell angels) and some models i like to joint some porfiles ( a danvas painted like a human as a wardriver). Speaking about IP, an alfasid painted white and yellow can be a merc waring a haqqui model. The real problem are the Wu Mings and the remotes. I won't buy more remotes just for a diferent sectorial and i already have Wu Mings to play ISS. Maybe i should try to paint them like, Yu Jing orange but with some part like shoulders with white and Yellow ( same for remotes) to be able to use them in both armies. Don't know.
I intend to use AHBs as fill in Brawlers until the new models come out. There are luckily so many out there you can have them and the two regular AHBs in your list if you want. I like the idea with the Danvas. May use that myself. If you have Asuka you can use her as a Desperados. Should suffice enough imo. Remember the Ikari Company is basically a band of defected Japanese space pirates with basically anything that comes to mind. Hence it would not be bad if you have some Wu Ming who perhaps managed to escape the ISS gaps and joined forces with some other defectors. Leaving they're armor in tact would be cool imo. Adds a fluffy look to then allowing you to play bit armies. Ultimately this is a band of mercenaries with a JSA flavor to them. Use whatever you like painted however you like. :D

My Ikari Company grew out of the DBS, and I plan to use them both, so it I try to keep one bit of colour scheme to link them in, and that is my version of the Druze yellow. Now sure how that will continue with the inclusion of the Japanese units though... Spoiler: So...how does my company look? The Motor Pool! Stolen Tiger only gets used if some one rolls +Armour on the Booty Table. Hope you liked it, but cant wait to get paint on my Karakuri and receive my Tankos. I am using Ghulam for the Keisotsu and Naftun for my Brawlers but want to get the proper ones painted up before I show them...
If you are asking me? Then yes. Most recently was a mirror match / War Game simulation against another Ikari force. Tanko ML+Brawler MSR+Bralwer Haris were a champ, taking out an opposing 5 man link consisting of Tanko ML+Brawler MSR+3 Kiesotsu. The first order of the first turn was my opponent's worst with my Brawler MSR AROing his Tanko and critting...and making him fail his other armour roll. Sorry @the huanglong (not sorry!) A Karakuri Mk12 was the literal murder machine taking out a Haris of Wu Ming and earned herself a solid paint job. The MK12 is the Centre model and is a convert of the Combi model (I ended up with 3 of the Combis so 2 have been converted) Spoiler Our Yuan Yuans both had a good effect. Honestly, if I ever intend to collect up a modest Ikari Company force ( Which I might, considering I now have the excuse of ''Well, I won a Cube Jager, and Ikari is the only ''sectorial'' that gets those, so...'' ), I'd probably use it as an opportunity to cherry pick out some of the prettier models from factions I generally don't find all that aesthetically appealing, namely Haqqislam. Would grab their REMotes to use instead of the Yaopus and Dronbots ( Which look cool too, but, y'know... variety and all that. ). I do love the Al Fasids looks, but seeing as I also like how Azra'ils look, and they share a sillioutte ( Sorry for misspelling that, I keep failing at that word. )... would be a good opportunity to grab at least the HMG one to use as an HMG Fasid. Bashis and Druze are also one of the few Haqq units I like the look off, so yay. Would also like to grab hold of the Hakims, Jannisaires and Kaplans somehow, though I'm not fully sure what I'd use them as. I'd imagine I'd use the Hakims as Brawlers I suppose. Really not sure about the other two though.
I'm doing the same thing. Cherry picking the models and converting them into characters for my planned force. Glad to hear that someone else has the same idea as me.
I mean, I still only just have a single Cube Jager, so it is going to take a while until I start doing anything, but... hey, it's an excuse to do something someday.
I have a few models for the sectorial so I too must start a journey to collect each model for my idea to come to life as best as I'm able. I already got a full unit of Karakuri and the rest I'm converting from different models I like the look of.
Well, there is always the excuse to grab a Krakot for general use, and I might grab an Al Fasid for cheaps off of a guy who's getting Red Veil for himself... So many factions you'd like, so little money and time.
What would you choose for Yuan Yuan conversions? I miss a 4th model but I am not keen to buy the old blister. I am thinking of converting the female Bashi into one? Remove the hood and modify the SMG.
I've been fiddling around with the idea of buying an oyoroi pilot and swapping the head, both arms and the sheath with the bashi and use it as a 4th yuan yuan. And with the other parts, I'll try to make a CSU/ABH out of it. But I'm not sure if it's gonna work as I imagine.
