Just recently started playing, and chosen Onyx as my faction. A Malignos can take either Antipersonnel or Monofilament mines, but doesn't have minelayer. If it places a mine, it cancels camouflage (right?) and reveals all open info- thus revealing whether the mine is monofilament or antipersonnel. Is there any way to hide which profile the mine is? Thanks :)
There is no way to hide what profile the mine is. Laying mines down is not one of the actions that lets you remain camouflaged.
further than that, The skill is not "Lay mine" The Skill is "Deploy AP mine" or "Deploy monofilament mine"
What Daboarder said. The type of mine is actually given away by the skill use declaration (even if it IS deployed as a camo marker). There isn't one "Lay mine" skill, they are specific skills for each type of mine. All of them reveal your hidden model and the type of mine being used. Minelayer is the only skill that allows the placement of a single mine (per minelayer) during deployment where the type of mine is hidden.
And only if the minelayer is deployed as a marker is it not possible to deduce what kind of mine they deployed
Coming from Vanilla Aleph, Mono mines are a heck of a mind game on your opponent when they know it is on the table.
Also remember that if you used Minelayer to deploy a deployable during deployment, once you reveal the model you must tell your opponent that you have used one of the weapons as part of open information. I.e. this Muyib has 2 E/Maulers and 3 AP Mines left.
Camo would still be one of the strongest skills in the game even if what was under a marker was open information.
